Blue Ridge is a fictional town located deep in the heart of Kentucky. It is home to one of the most well known equestrian academies in the United States. Students and staff from all over the world join the academy for what it has to offer. Do you have what it takes to join us and learn from the Academy?

Kate laid on her stomach on her bed, chin propped on in one hand, heels in the air, and ankles crossed. She faced the foot of the bed and had her Winnie the Pooh anthology opened before her. Atop her back sat Osiris who was grooming himself. He often sat on Kate when she was sitting still, which was nice since he was a lot warmer than other cats and actually felt very nice. She'd switched her duvet to her quilt about a week ago with the coming of the warm weather, and she liked the look of the quilt more.
When Kate had first come to Blue Ridge, she'd had this room to herself for the first couple of months, but eventually a girl by the name of Samie had moved in with her. Since Kate had been there first there had been no issues about who got what, since Kate had always had the bed by the window. Osiris hadn't liked adjusting, since he'd liked sleeping on the other bed when they had the room to themselves, but now he just slept next to Kate. He'd never really liked sleeping in his own bed.
Earlier that day she'd watered the ferns that she'd always had in the window, and she was considering adding more of a variety of plants now that spring was here. It was Saturday morning, and she rarely had time to relax in the morning, even on weekends. Today she'd found the time, and planned on later going to see Cailin.
Samie walked a steady pace as she headed to her dorm and probably rest before she headed off to do something worth her time. Taking a nap would waste her time, and it wasn't her to be that lazy. A rest may sound like wasting her time as well, but she need to take a breathe anyways. Also, she needed a change of clothes since she was thinking about probably taking Hex on a trail ride today. Spring has started a couple of days ago, and most of the time the weather would be nice around this season. At least she was hoping. She sighed as she tossed some of her curled hair off her shoulder. Even if things have calmed down around Blue Ridge without her interesting and snotty demeanor, she still hasn't stopped those old days. 'Hmm... I should really start doing that again.' She thought to herself with a devious little expression planted on her face.
Although, today she has been feeling quite more content than usual. So, oddly, she has been going easy on her shabby-self. She rolled her eyes towards herself, disgusted. 'What has happened to the old Samie? Those times, they were more fun.' She motivated herself, but she just can't turn herself back on. Too tired to argue with herself anymore, although this is a new odd habit, she finally arrived at her dorm, which somewhat felt forever to get to. Probably it was because she has been walking slower than she intended to, after all that thinking, she got sidetracked. Just letting it go with a shrug, she fiddled with the dorm keys and opened the door. Once she has shut the door was when she finally notices a girl in the room. She then knew it was her roommate, Kate.
She always forgets she has a roommate, until she recognizes all the stuff on the other bed that wasn't hers. Sometimes she really wished she had her own dorm room, though she somehow puts up with the other girl. She hasn't really interacted with the younger student, but since they were both here, she is guessing they are going to know something about each other in a few. It's always like that when you meet up with your new 'roomie'. "Hey... Kate, right?" She asked, actually in a less of an insincere voice than usual, with a more of a content tone. She knew they have met before, but they both had to eventually say something. 'Wow, I have really gone nuts...' shooting the thought after realizing her new self.

Kate heard the rattle of the key on the door before it opened, so she was already looking up when Samie entered. It always unsettled her, hearing someone else enter the room, and it never failed to relieve her when she saw that it was just her roommate. She knew that it was a silly fear, but it was real nonetheless. In response to the girl's hesitant question, or statement (she couldn't tell which), she just replied, "Correct, and you're Samantha." She wouldn't reply with the same questioning tone, as she liked to be direct. She knew her roommate's name (though perhaps not the nickname), and wouldn't pretend that she didn't.
The girl seemed nice enough, guessing by her tone, and Kate guessed that it was safe to engage in further conversation. "It's odd that we haven't spoken much before, and I apologize if I've offended you by being so silent. It's busy here, you know? I've got dance and the horses and schoolwork and everything else. I expect it's the same way for you though. Everyone here seems to have the same insane schedule that I do." She finished with a smile, looking at the older girl in interest. She always liked to judge their reaction to her accent, which became more apparent the more she talked.
Twisting the end of her wavy ponytail between her fingers, she thought of her violin that sat beneath her, under her bed. She still hadn't addressed her roommate about practicing, and had recently been resorting to the music room. She'd certainly ask her soon, to see if the girl would mind. She closed the book before her with a finger, as not to look impolite when holding a conversation, and flipped her phone over so that the screen faced into her quilt.
