McGinty's Pride of Place
Registered Name>> McGinty's Pride of Place
Barn Name>> Pride
Birth Year>> 2011
Sex>> Gelding
Breed>> Irish Sport Horse
Breed Registry>> Irish Horse Board
Coat Colour>> Dapple grey
Stable Colour>> Black
Height>> 17 hands
Personality>> Much like his rider, Pride is sweet tempered and friendly towards everyone. The issue lies in the fact that he can be somewhat too friendly; often pausing in tasks which require little effort in order to investigate more closely the many things which he finds interesting; for example, people, animals, trailers, hay bales... more or less anything, really, since this is in fact more of an excuse to take a break than it is anything else. Pride isn't exactly lazy and will go very well for a rider, provided that they can keep his focus on the task at hand.
Caution Around>> Anything which may cause a sudden bang, eg. open doors
Basic History>> Pride was bred on the McGinty farm from an Irish Draught mare and a thoroughbred, making him a traditional Irish Sport Horse rather than one bred from an Irish Draught horse and a European Warmblood, as has become common in more recent years. He was the fourth and last foal bred from his mother, who was advancing in years and considered to be past the age where she could be guaranteed to give birth to a healthy foal. His current owner helped to deliver him at one o'clock in the morning, a memorable experience to say the least, and was heavily involved in his training. When the chance came to pick which horse she would take to the US, it wasn't an easy decision but she eventually went with Pride due to his versatility.
