Personality>> Manhattan is easy going, lovable and gentle. The complete opposite of his owner in every way. Manhattan wants to please and he wants to do his jobs well. His easy going nature means that he takes everything in his stride. He doesn't spook often, and if he does it's very reserved. He's easy to handle, has immpecable ground manners and can adapt to any rider. He's a dream horse.

Manhattan's biggest weakness, however, is that he LOVES mud. He's drawn to it like a moth to a flame. He has to step in that puddle, roll in it if it's big enough. He'll find every mud patch in any field and you're damn right he'll get covered in it right before a show. It drives Ezra insane, but he still wouldn't change the beast for the world.

Basic History>> Manhattan, like his owner, has always received the best. Best feed, best grooming, best training, best pampering. Unlike Ezra, Manhattan allowed himself to enjoy and bask in every moment. He remained on the same training farm for years, shown to many a rider but never quite clicking with that special one. His training continued, he excelled.

Manhattan caught the eye of Ezra while at a show two years ago. Ezra's current show jumping mount was getting older, it was almost time to retire her. She'd taught him everything he knew and he was grateful. He'd been half heartedly looking, not quite ready to retire Genie. And then there was Manhattan. The 17HH beast first caught his eye as he stood waiting for his turn in the ring. You couldn't miss the large, muscled beast. Ezra watched his round, smile growing with each jump. Ezra was sold. He had a phone call to make.

Manhattan came home the next day. Genie was retired, she was grateful, she enjoyed the pasture life. Manhattan and Ezra got to work. They clicked, it was easy. It wasn't long until they were winning and advancing. Manhattan had found his heart human, and Ezra had found his heart horse.

Ezra is unsure which horse will be at the academy when he arrives, but he sure hopes that it's Manhattan. It all depends on what discipline is parents want him concentrating on for the time being.

Personality>> Trick is high maintenance, opinionated and hard to bond with. She's the stereotypical mare, and she sure knows how to test a rider. She doesn't like to be outside for long periods of time, and she's not that great being kept with other horses. She's selective with her 'friends'. Similar to her rider. Her ground manners are okay, she's not pushy or rude. She just knows how to show when enough is enough.

When riding, Trick has good days and she has bad days. On a good day, she's wonderful. She'll ride a course like nobodies business. She'll work great with her rider and put up no fuss. On her bad days, however, the whole world knows. She's not afraid to dump a rider, she's not reserved in throwing in a bolt and she's also fond of a dead stop. She likes to keep Ezra on his toes. The bad days have been dwindling, especially as the pair bond more and more, but stick a new rider on her back and she'll give them a ride - that's for sure.
Caution Around>> Pastures - Not great with other horses. Will buck, rear and bolt on occasion.

Basic History>> Trick came to Ezra around two years ago. She was bought by his father from a reputable breeder and trainer with the intent for Ezra to compete at a higher level in Cross Country. Her dam and sire are both highly prized animals and Trick has been regarded as a great up and coming mare. These two years have been rocky to say the least. Trick has dumped Ezra more times than the rest of his horses combined - to the point that Ezra's father was going to sell her. But Ezra was determined. He was going to make it work. And eventually, it did. The pair have been competing successfully - meaning Ezra hasn't been dumped into a water jump and actually placing - for five months. It trailed off when Ezra had his hospital stay and obviously Trick wasn't his father's first choice to send to the academy. Ezra's father has decided to send her to the academy now though to keep Ezra occupied, knowing Trick would do the job perfectly, and keep him away from the gymnastics studio. When she arrives, Ezra will have a lot of rapport building to do. A mare never forgets and Trick as a wonderful memory.
