Personality>> Anchor is a cautious little creature. She doesn't love or trust easily which comes from being born into a wild herd. She can be handled by a confident, calm, quiet person but sudden mood or attitude changes alarm her. She doesn't like loud noises and is wary of children. She does love Ellis, but he has had to work hard to earn that love. Anchor has never been ridden and Ellis has no intention of having her backed. He's happy with her being a pasture pet and a companion for Anchor - her best friend - and keeping her content.

Basic History>> Anchor came to Ellis 6 years ago. Her herd had been rounded up to be adopted out, or put down, as they had become to disruptive in their wild habitat. Anchor had been brought to his clinic to be put to sleep as she was painfully skinny and unhealthy. Ellis, by chance, was able to check her teeth before what was planned to happen did happen and saw how terribly overgrown they were. Some were embedded into her gums and she had nasty, oozing ulcers. Ellis decided to treat the older mare, spending months getting her mouth in shape and then eventually her condition. She picked up amazingly in his care and was the picture of health in no time. Ellis knew then that he couldn't part with her and worked on gaining her trust. He moved her to the USA with him and knew that he'd love the little mare for the rest of her days.

Personality>> Rhino is a goofy guy that loves attention. He'll do anything for a pet from anyone and everyone. He's social, loves all other animals and is extremely willing. He enjoys work but has a short attention span for it so needs a patient hand to work with him. He's very generous with slobber, and isn't a fan of personal space. He's good for Ellis, he lets him relax when working with him as the gelding has such a fun loving nature.

Rhino is doing extremely well under saddle. Ellis started backing him 5 months ago and they're still working on things. He's primarily used on trails but Ellis has jumped him and Rhino has done well. He's forward going and loves to work. Ellis is sure the gelding will do well in whatever they end up doing.
Caution Around>> Frequently steps on feet - Ellis always wears steel toe caps when working him on the ground

Basic History>> Ellis ended up with Rhino when the horse was just five months old. He was brought in by a woman who owned Rhino's dam. Rhino had been kicked in the jaw by his mother and needed reconstructive surgery. The woman could not afford the surgery and wanted to put him down. Ellis took one look at the youngster, bought him from the woman for $100 and completed the surgery. It was extensive, and took multiple surgery's as the youngster grew but it worked. Ellis adores the happy go lucky guy and knew he made the right decision. He couldn't be without him now. Rhino will need one more surgery in the near future but he is comfortable, happy and healthy.
