Full History>> Lottie was born in Boulogne, France, and studied medicine at university. In her twenties, she took up a career as a Casualty doctor in the UK, where there were more opportunities for advancement, and her night-school English soon improved to the point where her accent was barely perceptible, which was sometimes a benefit when dealing with the ever-so-slightly racist Saturday night alcoholic. She spent ten years in a Birmingham hospital, but had to leave due to NHS funding cuts, and moved further north, where she took up a position as a consultant. This time, however, she lasted only five years before having a violent disagreement with a junior doctor who was attempting to administer the wrong medication to a patient. He was, as it transpired, drunk at the time, as Lottie had half suspected in any case. Still, it was obvious that she could not remain where she was, and so she left her job. Disheartened, she decided to retrain as a nurse in America, since she felt that a totally fresh start was called for. She spent some time in a New York hospital, this time on a paediatric ward, before taking up a post in a boarding school- because the pay was better. However, she quickly discovered that she disliked the spoiled and opinionated rich children who boarded there, and when she learned of the opening at Blue Ridge, decided to try her luck there.
