Now, the first thing anyone ever noticed about Ailsa was her prosthetic leg. She couldn't blame them; it stared one right in the face, so to speak. The damn thing used to be such a burden for her, but over the past year she'd improved with it much more than she could have imagined. She was riding sidesaddle now, so Oscar was getting back into shape. So was she. And now she had a Falabella, too, completely unplanned. But, over five months, she'd grown to love the little bugger.
She'd taken to walking in the pasture with her geldings. Other horses were welcome to come investigate, too. Today, however, she had brought her cane. Her leg wasn't made for running. Being an art teacher with two horses, she didn't exactly have the money to buy one just for running, especially since she probably wouldn't use it. She'd brought her cane because she was going to try to pick up the pace. She missed being able to run in the pasture with her horses.
While she didn't want to be a pessimist, she knew it probably wasn't going to work. She started with a light jog, but she was only able to take a few steps. She lost her balance, but that was why she'd brought the cane. Sure, it sank into the ground a little bit, but at least she was able to catch herself. Sundae and Oscar were only a few feet away when she nearly fell. Sundae was already on his way over to search her pockets when she straightened up. She laughed and scratched between his ears.

Ailsa heard a whistle and turned her head toward it. A blonde woman, probably calling her horse. She and her geldings turned and watched as the woman approached. Ailsa smiled when she caught her horse.
"Oh, it's no problem. My little lad here is the same way." She gave Sundae's forelock a tug. "Nice to meet you. I'm Ailsa, and these are Sundae and Oscar."

[/b] she said, happily. "You have some gorgeous horses." Reagan loved being around horses. It was the reason she had the job she did. "Are you an instructor here?" she asked out of curiosity. [/ul]

Ailsa smiled warmly at the compliment. "Oh, thank you. Your gelding is lovely as well. I have a soft spot for patterned horses." She gestured toward her spotted duo. Sundae stepped forward to sniff at Raegan's pockets. Ailsa pushed at his shoulder until he moved off. He pinned his ears and she frowned at him like a mother does with her disobedient child. Then she turned her attention back to Reagan. "Sorry. Yes, I'm the art instructor. Yourself?"
