Personality >> Sunny is a very sweet and loving mare. She's happy to snuggle up to anyone that comes near her. Her friendly nature can appear very pushy to those that don't know her, but she's very careful to never actually touch anyone! With a rider on her back, she is an eager to please mount. She is very careful as soon as she's saddled, since she is so often used for beginners. Her experience makes her an easy horse to learn from, but it also makes her a mount that doesn't do well for more than a lower intermediate level, since she doesn't differentiate between new riders and old hands at the sport.

~HISTORY

Basic History>> Sunny was purposely bred on a small farm in Kentucky. Her owner planned on training her for general western, but once her calm, teacherly personality developed, he realized that this wasn't in the plans for her. Well, she was still taught general western, but her training was also geared towards being a teacher, the mount that kids graduated to once they'd managed the basics and could move on to learning the western disciplines. When the school she lived at went under, she was sold to Blue Ridge, and has been here ever since.

Personality >> Fury has a lot of spirit, and it's never particularly hard to see. He's always ready and raring to go! He is not a mean horse by nature, although he tends towards frustration when he is held back. He has a bad tendency to act up when he isn't allowed to work off his energy, although the fact that he seems to have boundless energy really makes that hard to avoid at times. Barrel racing is all this horse knows, so he is always antsy and trying to run.

Basic History>> Fury was born to local Kentucky breeders. He was trained as a pure barrel horse, like a racehorse, just taught to run, with no brakes. He does his job amazingly well when he finally gets to do it, which is why he is still at the Academy.

Personality >> Goldie is a sweet horse, always eager to please and ready to go. She doesn't spook at much of anything, and if something startles her, she is more likely to jump and then continue, trusting her rider to keep her safe. She does have a bit of 'go' in her, and is always ready to head onto the next activity. Beginners to advanced can ride her, and she'll offer everyone a challenge without frustrating anyone. She does do better if she is lunged before riding, as she can be a bit fresh, and this makes her less than ideal for beginners to the horse world.

Basic History>> Goldie was born and bred on a ranch in Colorado. She was trained as a ranch horse, roping mainly. The son then took her to some working cowhorse shows and the mare seemed to like that better than chasing cows on the range. Deciding she was a better performance prospect, they put her up for sale. The academy was looking for some more advanced western mounts, and saw this pretty mare for sale, and bought her.

Personality >> Radio's age works in her favour in some cases, as she has already managed to form a set of responses for almost any situation. However, her patience is short with others who waffle over similar situations, which can sometimes spell trouble when she is in an arena with younger horses. When she's not in motion, she's always staring into the distance, never paying attention to what's around her... That makes it really easy to startle her if you approach to fast. Out in the pasture, you'll see her on her own, ignoring the rest of the horses that are around, either grazing or watching what's going on outside.

Basic History>> Here, there, everywhere. Radio's never been mistreated, but she's never been left in one place long enough to form an attachment either. She was sold from the farm where she was born at six months of age, spent more than a year in a pasture growing up, was sold again, left to age to two years, before she was moved to a Western training barn for a year. Since returning, as a well-trained horse, Radio's still managed to shift around every half a year to a year. However, this time around, she was picked up by the Academy as a school mount.

Personality >> Kovar is, if you were to put it into human terms, a dork. He's relatively smart, but goes about everything in a clumsy way. You can often see him scraping along a post or something, only because he didn't judge the spacing right (Rarely does he hurt himself, though). He's an absolute doll, especially when he is in the company of people. His highest-value treat is a peppermint, but don't feed them too often, because he tends to gain weight easily! One of his quirks is that he hates water, especially on trails or anywhere. He might stand still for a bath, but don't even think about going swimming with him.

~HISTORY

Basic History>> Kovar's life began on an ordinary working ranch, where he was loved from the moment he managed to stand up. His dam was one of the rancher's favourite mares, and he was her last foal, so he was treated very carefully. However, the rancher came into financial difficulties, and Kovar was sold on, to a home where he wasn't treated as carefully, and was just a trail horse. On a trail ride one day, he was forced into the water, and when his leg was tangled in some underwater weeds, he was forced to remain calm. Since then, he has hated water, especially bodies of water. After a while, his refusal to go in water caused a problem, and he was moved on, and thus, he ended up at an auction, and later, at Blue Ridge.

~PERSONALITY

Personality >> Rolo is rather cautious about what he's doing. He's one that always watches his feet, and his ground manners are impeccable. If he does manage to catch your foot, or push you against the gate, he is the picture of remorse. He can be slightly clumsy out on the trail, running you into a low-hanging branch or against a thick bush, but it's not intentional, it's more an issue with his perception of space. He's usually one of the friendliest horses in the pasture, always to come and be your friend if you offer a sugar cube. However, rough hands are one way to make him turn into a terrible mount, so whoever rides him has to know what they're doing in that regard.

~HISTORY

Basic History>> Rolo is an ex ranch horse whose old owner was a young man who was in a severe car crash. He tried to find someone else to ride Rolo for him, to be able to keep the gelding, but was unable to do so. This means that he had to sell him on, and wants him to get the best care possible and knows that he’d most likely find this for Rolo in the Blue Ridge auction. From there, Sara bought him as her second mount, and when she moved on to college, he stayed with her. While he is still under her ownership, as a way to keep him occupied while Sara can't work with him, he is on indefinite loan to the Academy.
