While he had felt guilty about leaving just as lambing season was starting, Bruce also knew that he'd only get in the way, and the sooner he got back, the quicker he'd get his newly acquired settled before the school year started. The bay Standardbred had been more than a little fractious since he had stepped off the truck that had brought him from the airport, so he had been turned out.
He whistled as he led the last of the fourteen mounted games ponies out to the yards that were at the back of the arena. He had left a notice on the boards in the barns as well as the one in the main office, saying that he was running a fun mounted games day, and with the games he had planned, it required the use of mounts that were used to the excitement of mounted games, so he had asked that the students just arrived with a helmet, ready to ride, and he would assign them on of his ponies... ok, they weren't all technically ponies, but nether were polo ponies.
With the ponies in their yards, their tack in the shed on their named racks, grooming buckets in front of each respective yard, and Dolly sitting contentedly on Mo's back, He went to setting up the arena. He set up the bending poles in seven lanes, deciding that the easiest game to start with was pole bending and then walk, trot, canter, run, and then work up from there. It was early in the day, and he was hoping that they could get through a number of the games before the day was through, stopping for lunch in the middle.
