Tux stared at the computer and let out a heavy sigh. This was always his least favorite part of picking up foals for his class - Figuring out a way to get them to campus. This time, with two separate rescues he was working with, it was even harder, but at least he had a place to spend the night on the way back. A two-day trip with little ones was hard, but it was heartening that the rescue he had worked with the previous year, which was more local, didn't have any foals for him.
As he played with the map in front of him, trying to convert the time given to "actual time with a trailer" for the length of the trip, his fingers tapped on the desk, to no particular rhythm.

Cara had her room packed up. Ok, it had been packed up since the end of the school year, other than her clothes, but now it was kind of official and with the school year getting ready to kick off, it was time for her to move onto the next big step in her life. She looked around the room as she pressed her lips together, a place that had been her home for the past four years, and now it was time to say good bye.
She released a long breath as she left her room. Change was nothing new to Cara, but this kind of change was something totally different from anything in the past. This time she wasn't running on a script, and she had no clue as to what part she was supposed to play in it. Not wanting to dwell too much on what she couldn't handle, she made her way over to the Evening Primrose Barn, as she wanted to speak with Mr Xayarath before she left.
Walking through the barn, she took the time to greet each of the mare's as she passed them, knowing that she would miss them all - she always missed animals more than she did some people - and she knocked on the office door as she reached it.

Tux was somewhat happy with his route that he'd chosen, and the places he'd found to sleep while on route, so he was about to start making other arrangements. However, just then, he heard a knock at the open office door and looked up, smiling as he saw Cara standing there, "Come on in, Cara. What's on your mind?" The girl was no longer one of his students, but he'd enjoyed having her in his class, and was hoping she'd continue to work with horses while she was in college.

After knocking on the door, Cara regretted it, as she hadn't thought through... ok over-thought, what she was going to say. She returned the man's smile with a somewhat hesitant one of her own, and stepped into the office.
Her shoulders began to inch up, but she forced them down again, it was time to at least try and pretend that she was a confident adult. "I just wanted to come and say thank you, and au revoir." It wasn't as final as the English version of good bye, and there was something that told her this wasn't really the end of her story here.

Tux was surprised that Cara had chosen to come say goodbye to him - The girl had been quiet in class, although a nice addition to the students despite that. He nodded at her words, "I hope things go well for you, Cara. You were a joy to have in class, and if you need a reference, you can always put my name down." He'd stand in her corner, any day of the week, "And come back to visit sometimes, if you can. You're good with the foals."
