Personality>> Slick is very easy going, and there's not a lot that can un-nerve this guy and he loves everyone!!
This horse is all about work, and as soon as the halter goes on, he's in his work space - no matter who is holding the lead - and is always conscious of where his feet are and what's happening around him... or at least this is how it seems to be.
He's really good at thinking on his feet, and if he believes that there is something wrong with the trail ahead of him, there is nothing that is going to make him move another step. With this said though, he's all about being a team-player, and is happy with a rider who can think for themselves too, and not relying on him to do all the work.
Slick's favourite treat is a small bag of ready salted potato chips, though of course he can't have them all the time, so every now and then makes them all the more delectable.
Caution Around>> n/a
Basic History>> Picked up at a BLM auction as a colt, Slick's life has pretty much been perfect right from the start. He was gelded and then slowly introduced to what would be expected of him, and within two years, he was happily being ridden around.
Due to his stunning good looks, Slick was an eye-catcher and due to this he did well in the show ring, though it seemed that all the trotting around and looking fancy wasn't what the gelding wanted to do, so he found himself up for sale.
He made a big impression, with everyone, at the sales, and wouldn't allow a single person, no matter their size, age or gender, to walk past, without trying to gain their attention one way or another - being a perfect gentleman about it of course. This is when he was seen by a couple who ran an animal therapy program and Slick went home with them.
He hadn't been for sale when Jaden and Sarah Collins walked on the yard of the therapy centre, desperate for ideas of ways to get their son back into the saddle, to give him a chance of independence now that his life had been turned upside down. After a month of Slick and Cass working together was the decision made that the horse and boy needed each other, so the Walkers happily wrote up a sales agreement, with the condition that Slick would be returned to them, should Cass decide that horses weren't for him anymore.
