Kitty stifled a yawn, leaning back in her armchair as she flicked through channels on the TV. Well, there were certainly a way bigger selection here than she got at home, but somehow it just wasn't the same. She missed the Irish accents and the BBC, she missed home, she missed the horses and she missed her family. Hell, she even missed the rain.
Homesickness wasn't exactly something that she'd felt a lot of so far, which might have seemed odd at this point, but up until recently, she'd had Andrea, and Andrea would never allow anyone to feel homesick if she could help it. Which was nice, but now the blonde was sad twice over. Not only did she miss home, she missed Andrea.
The blonde sighed. God, she needed to talk to someone.

Brie had been a new student to BRRA, and had gotten done unpacking her stuff. Her cat, Bellatrix, was in her room, chilling. Brie decided that today could be the day she could get to know some of the people here. Brie was exploring the Red Ribbon House so she could be able to know her way around, and while she was exploring, she noticed a blonde-haired girl who looked sad. Brie hated seeing people sad. So, she popped into the room.
”You look sad.” Brie said, a frown on her face. ”What’s wrong?”

Lost in thought, Kitty didn't notice someone else approaching the room, and she nearly leaped out of her skin when the other girl spoke. Turning so sharply that she almost gave herself whiplash, a smile spread across her face, almost as an automatic reaction at seeing somebody new. "Oh- nothing much," she dismissed the question as quickly as she could, her wide smile stretching further in an attempt at reassurance. "But hi! You're new, right?" Of course, she knew very well that the brunette was new; Kitty knew everyone, and those that she didn't know, she intended to know very shortly. "It's so good to meet you! I'm Katherine, but everyone calls me Kitty."

Brie was almost as startled at Kitty when the older girl reacted so quickly. Brie hadn't expected that, but, oh well. You could say a girl like Brie could scare the living daylights out of you sometimes. Then, Kitty smiled, and Brie figured everything actually wasn't bad. Brie didn't like scaring people, though. She nodded when Kitty asked if she was new. The brunette could detect an accent from Kitty, it sounded Irish. "Indeed I am new." Brie replied brightly. "And, it's nice to meet you too!" After Kitty had introduced herself, Brie did the same.
"I'm Brie, but maybe you've heard of me already. I just got done unpacking a while ago. My cat Bellatrix seems to be settling in fine, she always does. I gurantee she's gonna get along with everyone here!" Brie then said, adding a lighthearted chuckle. Then, she heard a meow and Brie turned around, spotting the shorthair mix come trotting over. She probably heard the conversation, and then she meowed at Kitty in a friendly way. "She's a friendly cat." Brie explained, smiling.

Kitty nodded with a grin, happy to be assured that her skills of facial recognition had not entirely disappeared just because it happened to be dark, miserable and depressing outside. She liked to know what was going on, and she definitely liked to meet new people. After all, new people were just friends that you hadn't made yet! Someone had bought her a mug with that on it for Christmas, and to be honest, it had been one of the blonde's favourite gifts. She was always a fan of mugs with quotes. Of course, she'd also rather liked the t-shirt with the glitter and the picture of Pride, and the new jacket which her parents had sent her for dressage- all the sequins were falling off her last one.
"No, I haven't!" she exclaimed brightly. "It's a bit quiet around here, though; everyone went home for Christmas! I did too, but... well, I came back." She shrugged. "I missed the horses... And then I wouldn't have got to meet you until I came back, which would have been rubbish!" With a grin, she held out a hand to the cat. "You're gorgeous, aren't you?" the Irish girl cooed softly.

Brie nodded as Kitty explained that everyone had went home for Christmas, except for Kitty, who did, but then came back. "I really love horses." Brie then added. "I couldn't stand being away from them for long. The whole reason why I arrived here was because of the horses." At Kitty's next words, when she said that it would've been rubbish if she hadn't met her, Brie smiled. "Guess it's a blessing you came back then, huh?" Brie asked, smiling.
When Kitty held out a hand to Bellatrix, cooing softly, Brie smiled as her cat purred and nuzzled into Kitty's hand. "I think she likes you already!" The young 15-year-old added.

"Well, that's good, because you can never get away from the horses here," the blonde commented with a grin. Of course, she wouldn't have it any other way; horses were her life, and had been ever since she could remember. They were a constant, reassuring presence, and she really didn't know that she would be able to cope without them. Everything would fall apart; come tumbling down about her ears. And the Irish girl was really rather keen to avoid that.
Kitty nodded, grinning. "Of course it is! Meeting new people is always a blessing." Gently, she touched the cat's cheek.

Brie couldn't help but agree with what Kitty said. "I've been fascinated with horses for a long time." She said. "Especially for someone like me, you can definitely never stay away from the horses here!" Brie had a feeling she'd be good friends with the Irish girl already. She was nice, like Brie. When Kitty then said meeting new people is always a blessing, Brie nodded. "Especially if they're in your house. It's always nice to meet people in the same house as you." She added. Meeting someone in the same house as her was what Brie was doing now, in fact.
That was definitely a blessing! Brie also liked the fact that apparently she wasn't the only one who liked cats. "I also have a basic fondness for animals." She said, watching happily as Bellatrix was apparently taking a liking to Kitty. "Animals seem to like me."

Kitty nodded rapidly. "You're definitely in the right place, then," she pointed out with a grin. "Everyone here loves horses, even the ones who won't admit it! Do you have your own, or are you riding one of the school horses?" Personally, the blonde couldn't imagine not having brought one of her own horses- it wasn't as if there was a shortage of them at home, after all, and it was bad enough being away from her home and her family without being away from her horses as well. Still, she knew that a lot of people did ride the school horses and, so far as she could see, those maintained at Blue Ridge were of a far higher quality than one might come to expect- although it was only natural, she supposed; after all, the school did pride itself on being the best of the best.
She grinned, running a hand over the cat's sleek fur. "Animals are amazing things," she agreed. Certainly, the world wouldn't be the same without them, and Kitty had no idea what kind of thing she might be doing now- horses, after all, were her passion.
