Gerri grinned as she got Garcon ready for a trail ride - She still couldn't believe that she was now assigned to the Appaloosa, but that's what had happened. When she had approached Ms. Carr tentatively about perhaps gaining experience on another horse, the woman had named not an academy mount, but had instead asked if Gerri would be interested in riding her personal horse. After meeting the gelding, and doing the 'test drive' under Ms. Carr's supervision, it had seemed like the pair would be a good match, and Gerri was excited, if a bit nervous, about the new adventure.
However, before they started attending classes together, Gerri wanted to get to know Garcon a little bit more. Today, their first official ride without supervision, Gerri wanted to just head out for a leisurely trail ride. No rush, no plans, maybe a bit of playing around but mostly just getting to know the horse and his quirks. She mounted the gelding and turned him in the direction of the meadow trail, which would give her the easy ride she was looking for, and enough space to practice a few dressage moves if the mood struck and it seemed to be going well.
