~HISTORY

Basic History>> Not a lot is known of her life before she arrived at BRRA, other than the fact that the people who owned her before Dr Carr was given the care of her had led the pony to her new home, her new owners in their car. The mare had stumbled often before they were happened upon by a sheriff and the pony was taken into the custody of the humane society, and then into the care of Dr Carr.

The mare was in a pretty bad state, as can still be seen from the scars on her legs, chest and muzzle, but she was nursed back to health and then brought back into work - which she took to like a duck to water. It was by pure accident that the mare's skill in mounted games was found as she was worked in the arena one day.

Basic History>> Joe was born on a Quarter Horse stud, yes he's a pony, but he never seemed to fit into the Western style of riding that the stud owners trained the horses in, so their youngest daughter stepped in and trained him under and English saddle. With the pony's breeding, meant he is fast and quick on his feet, so mounted games seemed to be the perfect discipline for this little guy.

Personality >> Star is a very sweet horse. He cares very deeply about people, and is one of those horses that hates anyone getting hurt, even by accident. He is perfect for beginners because of this trait. He is rather easy to ride, and gets energetic when he is faced with poles. His one vice is that he gets very anxious when he is left somewhere alone, and so he should never be left anywhere on his own, as he will cause damage.

Basic History>> When her rider outgrew her, Star was put out to pasture and is seemed forgotten about. She was well feed and well cared for, she was more of a pasture ornament than anything else. She was spotted by one of the Academy equestrian staff and an offer was quickly put in for her. Once back at the Academy and under saddle, Star's quick feet and speed made her perfect for a games pony and when they tried her with the sport it seemed that she had already had all the training.

Personality >> This sweet girl's worst problem is stopping to eat while working. She's a gentle horse, rarely spooks, and was used formally as a trail horse for young children until the owner of the stables passed away, putting all the horses up for sale. She's slow and patient with youngsters, and her gallop isn't the fastest around. Still, she can be a child's best friend, and will gladly accept sugar cubes and apples and all sorts of goodies.

~HISTORY

Basic History>> Was born on the plains of the Waiouru highlands, in New Zealand, in the Kaimamwa ranges (where the breed gets its name from). She, along with her dam were rounded up during the annual cull and were then sent to auction. Fern was purchased by a lovely couple who trained her with the care and understanding of people who knew and cared for their horses. She was used for many years, teaching children to ride and caring for them out on the trails around the native bush. It was the untimely death of the couple that the horses were sold on and Bruce was contacted by a friend who had purchased the mare and she was then on an aeroplane and off to Kentucky.

Personality >> Rocky is a real sweetheart, a real peoples horse but sadly not the brightest crayon in the box. He gets distracted easily, and also gets worked up quickly. He needs to be kept away from other horses before competing, or he'll get too excited and won't be able to concentrate. He can be flighty, and hates sudden noises or movements, but once calmed down he is fine. He gets his name Rocker, as in Rocking horse, because he can sometimes do a very accurate impression of one. He is often seen doing it, bucking and rearing one after another, when too excited. It is comical to see, and even while doing this not many people fall off. A lot like this about him, he gains quite a following where ever he goes. He's also very fast, flying around the arena and easily one of the fastest ponies his trainers had ever seen.
