Age>> 11 (2008)
Sex>> Gelding
Breed>> Thoroughbred
Breed Registry>> Jockey Club
Coat Colour>> Bay
Stable Colour>> Ultramarine
Height>> 16.0 hh
Personality>> Dolent is up for all sorts of things, even if that means a spin around the barrel arena or swimming in the lake. He has an adventurer's personality, and can get a bit sour if all he sees is the same arena day after day. His food motivation, especially for his daily grain rations, makes him enjoy the puzzle feeders that Avery uses to feed him on occasion, and it also helps keep his motivation to behave up. Under saddle, Dolent is still a typical thoroughbred, ready to go go go, although not too spooky. He's pretty steady in all situations, but will try to turn group rides into a race if he can.
Caution Around>>
Basic History>> Dolent started his life in the racing world, as many thoroughbreds do. He actually managed 34 starts, amassing a winnings of over $80,000, but in his last race, managed to injure his tendon. As he was nearing retirement age on the racetrack anyway, he was sold to a Thoroughbred rehabilitation program with a hefty donation to see to his medical needs. There, he was first treated, and once cleared by the vets to be completely sound, retrained into a jumping prospect, and then further. It was through this project that he came to 11-year-old Avery's attention, and she fell in love with his sweet disposition. After some begging and promising of completing all chores, he was allowed to come home with the Durands, and became Avery's companion in all sorts of schemes.
