Paige was at something of a loss, if she was honest; Piper had gone out on the trails, and although she could happily have gone herself, she was rather worried about Sweetie. Perhaps it was just her imagination, but she'd thought that the horse was limping ever so slightly when she'd last taken her out. Still, she hadn't been sure at all, and the brunette was generally very good indeed at picking up on those things, so that she'd come to the conclusion to leave Sweetie to rest a little and see how she was going this afternoon.
For the present, though, she was wandering the campus with nothing to do and, as she tended to under such circumstances, she had found herself in the recreation centre, idly knocking a ball around the table.

Nikki was bored. She had kind of expected to be training nonstop now that there weren't any classes to interrupt her gymnastics, the reality, however, was completely different. Which, led her to wandering around, aimlessly, looking for something to do. And that something that had nothing to do with horses.
Without any other idea of what to do, she made her way to the rec centre. She wasn't the kind of person to sit around and watch movies, so she bypassed the lounge and walked toward where she knew the games room, more commonly known as The Den, was.
She wasn't too surprised to find that someone was already in here, and she walked over to the wall to select a cue from the rack there. "Care for some competition?" She asked smoothly as she chalked the tip of her cue, showing that she had every intention of playing no matter the answer given.

The sound of someone walking into the room was a sufficient distraction to completely throw off Paige's shot, and the cue ball ricocheted around the table a few times without actually hitting anything before sinking itself into a pocket. Her sister would probably have groaned, sworn a few times, demanded to know what the other girl was doing, and then stormed out. Paige, not being of quite the same disposition, simply sighed and went about the business of resetting the table, which, as it turned out, was rather lucky.
"Of course," she agreed amiably, although she rather got the impression that it was a decidedly rhetorical question. The same impression that she often got from Piper, actually, though when she pointed that fact out, the other girl had demanded to know what on earth she was going on about and why she had to go around sounding clever all the time.

Nikki gave a smile that went nowhere near her eyes. "I don't mind if I do." She said as she leaned over the table, set up her shot and the cue easily connected with the ball, sending the white ball toward the triangle of balls, smacking the solid blue ball nicely and breaking the triangle apart, sending the balls in all directions.
"The table is yours." She said as she bowed toward the table, slightly peeved that she didn't manage to sink any of the balls, but she wasn't about to hold that against the other girl.

Paige gave the other girl a slight smile and chalked her cue as she regarded the table pensively. "Nice try," she murmured as she bent to regard the balls from a slightly different angle before shaking her head and straightening up to walk around the table a little further. The brunette liked pool; it was a game that called for patience and quiet concentration, both of which were far more in her line than any exertion of brute force.
Finally satisfied, she bent a little lower, eyes fixed on the ball, ran the cue through her fingers once or twice to be sure, and then, with a decisive click, the cue touched the cue ball, which tapped a green spotted ball and sent it rolling gently across the green of the table to drop neatly into a pocket. Straightening up, Paige offered the blonde a smile.

Nikki's eyebrow arched as this girl managed to drop a ball, though she guessed it wasn't the hardest thing, since Nikki had broken the stack, and she lightly applauded the pocketed ball. "I'm guessing that the object is to pocket our respective balls and then the black?" She asked as she leaned on her cue, waiting for the girl to take her next shot. "And, when it comes to the black, do we have to call the pocket and sink it in that one to win?" After all, it was best to know all the rules before they got to that point.

She glanced up with a slight smile for the blonde as she chalked her cue again and took a few steps around the table, lining up another shot. "That's how I usually play..." the brunette confirmed, not having been aware that there was another method in the first place. "We can call if you like." Personally, she'd never done that either, but you lived and learned, as they said, and since she highly doubted that she'd sink it in a pocket that she wasn't aiming for- she had enough trouble getting it into a pocket that she was[/b] aiming for-, it didn't make all that much difference.
