He'd only been home for a month, and already Cass was at his wit's end! His mother's constant nagging... concerns, were rubbing him the wrong-way and rather than making him feel loved and cared for, it was making him feel even more useless than when he had first lost his leg. Now that he'd had his fitting for a new leg, he was blissfully happy that they were driving back to campus - he may have twisted the truth a little and said that if his horse was on campus, he had to be there too.
Happy to watch his mother's car drive off, he heaved a long sigh. He needed to head over and see Slick, the only problem was that he was exhausted and he knew that going over on his crutches was probably only asking for trouble. So, sitting in his hated chair, he wheeled into the stable. The smell was one that always meant home to him, but nothing could bring a smile to his face, and while he'd love to hide, moving around in his chair made him feel like he had a neon sign over his head telling everyone to stop and stare.
