Grabbing a bite to eat

It was 12:15pm. Tal walked into the cafeteria and looked around. There was a salad bar, a sandwich bar and a hot food section and well as a fridge filled with various drinks. She selected a bottle of water then wandering over to the sandwich bar to see what was available.

There were lots of different sandwiches to choose from: egg, roast beef, ham and cheese, cold chicken. Tal scanned the bar, eventually setting on a salad sandwich. She swiped her card and sat down at the closest table. So far, things were going well, though she still hadn't met any of the other students. Hopefully, that would change soon.

Karina had spent her morning cleaning tack, and while it wasn't the most exciting pastime, it definitely did work up an appetite. Now,she left Cas's tack gleaming on its racks and headed for the bathroom to wash her hands, and a small smear of saddle soap on her face. After that, she headed to the cafeteria, thinking to grab a bit of lunch before she grabbed Cas and made use of their gear again.

She decided on a plate of pasta, swiped her card, and then grabbed a fork and knife. A quick glance around showed her the filling cafeteria, but she shrugged and sat down at the nearest table, near a girl she hadn't met previously. Probably a new student, then. With a small smile at the girl, Kari unloaded her tray, setting that aside, and took a drink of her water.

The cafeteria was slowly filling up. Tal looked up from her lunch as another girl sat herself down at the table. Finally! Another student to talk to! Perhaps someone that she and Bobby could become close friends with. "Hello! I'm Talira Greycrest, but you can call me Tal if you like. What's your name?"

Taking another bite of her tasty sandwich, Tal waited to see if the girl would reply.

Karina raised an eyebrow at the girl's formal introduction, out of place in the casual greeting, but shrugged it off without comment, "I'm Karina. Are you a new student?" She grabbed a fork and started on her pasta, considering each mouthful before she took it so that she wouldn't be caught trying to answer with her mouth full.

Tal was happy to have finally met another student. "Yeah, I'm new, just arrived this morning. My family live on a farm about three-hours-drive from here." Washing her sandwich down with some water, Tal added, "I'm taking my horse for a ride along one of the trails later. You're more than welcome to come along, too."

Having finished her lunch, Tal rose from her seat. She'd give Karina a chance to think about whether or not she wanted to be seen hanging around with a new student. "Well, I'm off now. Like I said, you're more than welcome to join me for a trail ride if you want to, I'll be on the Bridge Trail. See you later."
