Ráhel was surprised to see that the cross country courses were empty as she approached them. It was a Saturday morning, there was no big exams coming up that she knew of, and yet, none of the students were making use of the fields yet. Not that she was complaining, mind. Let them have their trail rides, it meant more space for her to put Singer through his paces.
The red gelding was definitely in good spirits, prancing his way through the beginnings of the warmup, until Ráhel finally managed to get their communication flowing a little better. He didn't lose the spunk, but did start turning it towards their shared goal, and that was all she asked. Finally, after a few rounds of the warm up field, transitioning from trot to canter and back again, she felt he was ready, and pointed him towards the longest of the courses. They wouldn't be doing the obstacles at speed, focusing more on a clean round, but it would give Singer something to take the edge off of his energy, at the very least.
