The Personality
Personality: Brody is sensitive and something he is called daily around the barn is ‘pansy’. He’s a tall horse and he seems to use that as an excuse as to stepping on people’s feet, he is a pretty clumsy horse around the barn. The Thoroughbred has two sides to him; he is a very competitive horse even around the barn. In a show he is no silliness and gets down to business, he warms up like a professional and shows like one as well, most of the time. If his rider is relaxed so is he, unfortunately his attitude reflexes closely to what his rider is feeling. The gelding is very affectionate and loves everyone. For example when someone is cleaning his stall and he is in, he’ll put his muzzle right on that person’s shoulder and just let it sit there. He’s a big teddy bear and likes children but needs to be watched because he steps every which way and doesn’t pay attention.
Caution Around: Smaller People, Farriers, Him [when it’s fly season he kicks out a lot]
The History
Basic History: Brody is an off the track Thoroughbred. He only was on the track for about two years and that pushed it because his trainer and owner were optimistic that his father's love of racing would kick in soon enough. It never did and so he was retired at the age of four, he was sent off to an academy where he was trained to be ridden under English saddle, he quickly learned that there were other established gaits than a gallop. Brody was boarded and trained at the academy for about a year and a half and the academy was given permission to sell the gelding. With his instructor’s consent Chase and Jennifer decided that Brody would make a wonderful mount for him.
