The first day of school, and, as such, the first day for the swim team to meet. Glen had debated over starting the practices on the same day, but if she waited until the teachers were all giving out homework, she might not be able to get the same focus as now. She had told the students to have a light breakfast, since the kitchen would be open after practice, for a little while.

Entering the gym, which was already unlocked due to other practices, half an hour early, Glen moved straight towards the pool, looking in to make sure the lane lines were all arranged. Today she wouldn't be using anything fancy, just seeing what kinds of students she had, if she had any. Dropping her bag next to lane four's block, she sat on it, waiting for the team to arrive. As students trickled in, Glen smiled and welcomed them, sending those that hadn't already to change, while she let the others mill about until practice actually started.

At six thirty on the dot, she stood, "Good morning, everyone. From now on, I'm going to ask that you come prepared and changed, but you don't have to stretch out, because we're going to do it as a team." She glanced at the students, "While we go through our stretches, I'd like you each to introduce yourself, and tell me what your favourite stroke is, as well as anything else I need to know." She started demonstrating the first stretches, simple ones that everyone should recognize.

Anna woke early as she'd done every day since she'd arrived at Blue Ridge, so getting ready for the first day of classes wasn't any sort of shock for her. It was going to be a long day, with tons of firsts, though she was thrilled to start her classes. She was feeling confident about all of her academic classes, and was looking forward to the equine classes. First, however, would be her first swim practice. Just as she did every day, Anna changed into a swim suit (today's was plain black) and grabbed her swim bag which contained her swim cap, goggles, towel, water, a change of clothes, shampoo, and other essentials. 

After stopping at the cafeteria (which had just opened) to get a banana, Anna made her way to the gym, eating her banana on the way. She had started all of her mornings this summer this way, but this morning she had more of a briskness in her step. Stopping in the locker room to drop her bag and shed her clothes, Anna took a drink of water and headed to the pool. She quickly spotted a woman sitting at the edge of the fourth lane, who she knew must be the new coach, and headed towards her, stopping when she was near. She was the first, which didn't surprise her, and she began to stretch her arms while she waited.

When the woman spoke up, Anna stopped and listened, smiling at how the woman started so promptly. She followed through the stretches, and spoke up first to introduce herself. "Hello, my name is Anna Edwards and my favorite stroke is butterfly."
