It was barely light out when Demeter's phone went off, The woman fumbled in the dark on her nightstand to find where the annoyingly loud device was and finally smacked her hand on top of it. "Hello, this is Dr Carr." She said as she answered it. At the sound of a rather panicked voice on the other end, the veterinarian was suddenly awake. "Calm down Chloe." She said soothingly. "What is Grant doing with Mavis now? She's already in the float and they are on their way? Great, I'll meet Grant at the barns. Yes Chloe, I'll have him text you when he arrives."[/font] She ended the call and quickly flicked her light on. Since she was in too much of a hurry to bother about trying to find clothes, she put on what she had been wearing the day before, she'd get changed later.
Running down to the clinic, she quickly flicked all of the lights on, which received an annoyed meow from Rascal who was sleeping in her basket. "Sorry, it's an emergency." She said as she grabbed the files she needed and then raced into the barn, and into the medicine room where she grabbed everything she thought she might need.
She had been tending to Mavis since that day the Belted Galloway had been born, and had got to know the house-cow for all of her quirks. Mavis had never had a problem with calving in the past, as Demeter generally only got to see the calves if they needed anything after birth, so this was indeed and emergency.
She looked up as the truck and trailer pulled up and she hurried out to let down the ramp so that Grant could led the dun and white cow out. "How long has she been like this?" She asked as she walked around to inspect the cow's back end. "And please text your wife."
"'Bout thirty mins." Grant replied. "She was straining too much once her water's broke. The lil' 'uns normally just pop out."
