The Personality
Personality: Lenore is your typical been-there, done-that horse. Just looking at her, you wouldn't be able to tell about her history. She's always willing to work, and more so for Leander than anyone else. She doesn't much bend to treats, although she will eat them if they are offered. She doesn't do well in pastures with very pushy horses, because she lets them do whatever to her, but doesn't exactly let them be 'in charge' either.
Notes: Do not turn out with 'alpha' horses.

The History
Basic History: Most of her history is not very well known. It is presumed that she was born into a good home, trained well, and then sold to a place that ended up neglecting her. She was found in a gully with a few cuts and scrapes, very thin. The day that she was brought in, Lee was in the rescue looking at the farm dog. As he saw the horse, she reminded him of the mare he learned to ride on, and he offered to foster her. Since then, he's officially adopted her, and has found out that she is a wonderful mare who had good training, which she just had to be reminded of.

Personality>> Nessus was a monster when he came to Leander, and most of the time, he still is. But he's more reasonable under saddle, and when walked in a stud chain, will even mind his manners! He's still not safe to turn out in a pasture with another horse, as he can and will go after them. He does have to wear a red ribbon in his tail too, because he'll kick out occasionally when he thinks another horse got too closed. He's afraid of animals who are far smaller than him - ponies, minis, dogs, cats, pretty much anything.

Basic History>> Where to start with this hooligan? Nessus was raised in a too nice and too kind setting. His owners were new to the whole owning a horse situation and pretty much let him get away with everything, because they thought he was just playing. WRONG. Nessus was a stallion until the age of four, certainly enough time to get the testosterone flowing. The inexperienced buyers thought they were saving him and giving him another chance as from what they gather he was heading to the slaughter house. They thought ‘oh! We’ll just get him castrated and he’ll be a great gelding.’ Well they were right on one part, he was in fact a gelding, though he was far from great. He began getting mean and pushy, he nearly trampled his female owner. That was the last straw and Nessus was put on the market. Leander bought him and worked with him to try and rehabilitate the gelding.
