Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Colin is the withdrawan, introverted type upon first meeting. He does have a sharp wit, and dark sense of humor, which makes it difficult for people to like him. He is a bit of a flirt, more so when he has a few to drink, and has difficulty settling down into a relationship. This does also stem from his own insecurities, and his 'inner voice' which makes him doubt everything. He isn't the cuddling, stay at home, type of person, and also has difficulty returning affection. He has met a few women who he would have been able to vision a life with, but he's ended it before things went too far. He believes that his fate is that simply to be alone, which he doesn't mind too much. His wit and humor also turns into downright sarcasm at the best of times, or simply being rude. He doesn't have the longest fuse, and with that comes a case of snapping very quickly, mainly when things don't go his way or how he planned it. This fuse becomes even shorter with alcohol, which turns him into downright nasty. However, he isn't all bad. He does have his soft side, which very few can say they have seen or experience. It is during these times that he's probably the sweetest person to be around, soft spoken and loving. His part hurts have turned him into the person that he is today.
Likes>> Drinking, animals, working, travelling, sailing, drawing, music
Dislikes>> Repetitive questions, annoying children, pain of any kind, doctors and dentists, animal shelters (can't stand that so many animals are abandoned and without homes).
Fears>> Snakes, violent storms
Hopes>> To compete at the WEG some day, start his own family
Secrets>> Fathered a daughter when he was 17, pays child support, but doesn't want anything to do with her.
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Colin has got the scruffy look down. He doesn't shave often, leaving him with a semi-beard type thing going. When he does shave, he looks way younger than his actual 29 years. His dark brown hair, and blue/grey eyes make for a striking and irresistable combination, which he isn't afraid to put to good use. He stands at 6ft2, devlishly handsome, and a smolder to melt hearts. Clothing wise, he prefers jeans, combat boots and button up shirt, classy but not uncomfortable. Despite his scruffy look, he does like being neat, especially when riding, with natural coloured breeches, a white button up shirt, and field boots. Most of his clothes is simply what he likes, and doesn't depend on brand names. He loves his knitted sweaters in winter, also in various shades of black and grey.
Markings>> Has an infinity band tattoed on his inside left wrist Example
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> Pneumonia when he was five, broke his arm when he was 9, severe riding accident when he was 19, leaving him with a slight limp.
Criminal History>> Spent a night or two in a cell for being drunk and disorderly.
Full History>> Colin was born in County Wicklow, to an Irish father and a French mother. He is the oldest of two children, his sister younger than him by two years. His father owned several business in Ireland and around Europe, and was quite successful. His mother worked at a local breeding and training centre, backing and competing young warmbloods until they were sold on. At the age of three, Colin started riding, riding a small Welsh pony named Caramel. By the time he was four, he was already competing in showing and show-jumping classes. Aged six, he was sent to boarding school in London, returning home over school holidays, but the change was too big for someone so young, and the boarding school stint only lasted a year. He returned home, and then started going to a private school not far from home. His riding picked up again, and his riding string was at three ponies.
During a time of political unrest in Ireland, his father lost a lot of his bussiness, and though the family was still well off, some adjustments had to be made. His father took it pretty hard, and started drinking. He became violent, and took it out on his family, mainly Colin, who he felt was growing up to be soft and without real life experience of the world. The beatings were rough, the bruises hidden, and no one could stop his father. It was soon after Colin's ninth birthday, that his father broke his arm. Rushed to hospital, it turned out his arm was broken in two places, and nothing could stop the small boy from telling the truth. His father was arrested, and they never saw the man again. Though it was rough of the family, his mother met his step-father, who was smart, funny and caring, and quickly filled in the father role for Colin and Avery.
The psychological problems remained though. As a teenager, he acted out, skipping school and flirting his way around town. It seemed that riding was his only outlet, and the horses seemed to offer him comfort and solace. He was an angry individual, and when he was seventeen, it finally happened. He got a girl pregnant, and simply refused to have anything to do with them. He admitted his responsibility for his daughter, but does nothing more than pay for child support. It was such a well kept secret, that not even his mother or step-father know about it. Soon after, he got his act together, and put his focus on getting the grades he needed to get into an excellent university. He was admitted to Oxford, and finished his studies in Biochemistry. During this time, he was busy schooling a young Thoroughbred over a cross country course, who spooked when a flock of pheasants crossed his path. The horse spooked over the water jump, tripping over the brush. Colin lost his balance, his foot ending up caught in the stirrup. He was dragged out of the jump, and onto the course, where the horse spooked again at someone trying to catch the him, rearing up which freed Colin from the stirrup, but the grey colt flipped over, just missing Colin, but crushing his knee as the colt tried to stand up.
Colin was admitted with bruises and cuts galore, three broken ribs and his right leg was operated on several times to insert and remove pins. Months of rehab and physical therapy, and he was back in the saddle.
His passion however, was working with horses, and ended up studying Equine Sciences at a private University in the States. He was 24 by that time, and hasn't been home since then. His accent is still distinctly Irish, but his home is where he lives. BRRA is his first proper job, but he is well qualified.
