Katherine made her way out to the pastures with a wheel barrow and two shovels, as she always brought out an extra. Sure mucking out the pastures was never on the top of her list of fun things to do, but it was one of those jobs that needed to be done, and while the other pastures were at a size where it was easier to do them with the quad bike and trailer, the mare pasture wasn't as large as the others and was actually easier to do without having to get on and off a bike for every area cleaned.
taking the barrow to the furthest pile from the gate, she started there and made her way back toward the gate. Today she wasn't wearing her normal uniform of beige jodhpurs, maroon polo and field boots, instead she was dressed in maroon jodhs, a pink sleeveless top and black paddock boots - yes, she knew there was a chance she could get mistaken for her daughter, but she also didn't want to overheat by wearing too many clothes, even in the shady pasture.
She picked up pile after pile and dumpe3d it in the barrow, cleaning the pasture in quarters rather than doing it pile by pile, as she didn't see the point in making more work for herself, and it was a lot less work to walk with a shovel than to move the barrow more times than she had to.
The sun shone bright over the pastures and with the sun came the heat. Drew started his walk out to the pasture to round up his herd. He left the three out longer than usual, but better late than never. Letting out a long whistle Outlaw and Rebel made their way to the gate, but of course Tucker just look at him. "I'll be back buddy." Drew returned the two to the barn and returned to fetch the last stubborn equine. "C'mon let's go Tucker." But like always he threw a fit and ran around, "Now I'm gonna have to give you a bath."
Throwing the lead rope over the Paint's neck Drew luckily threw the halter on his face. "Gotcha!" He saw a figure out in pasture 5 picking up piles of manure. Leading Tucker back to the barn Drew turned on his heel once again and headed back to the pastures. He entered the pasture and moved towards the person, quickly he realized who it was. "Good morning Katherine." He looked around and spotted an extra shovel, "Need any help?" He knew that this job wasn't exactly how anyone would want to be spending their day, but it was a job that someone had to do, might as well split the work.
