Full Name>>Isaiah Isaac Beringer
Nicknames>>Izzy
Age>> January 10th, 1998; Seventeen
Staff or Student>> Student
House>> Green Ribbon House
Gender>> Male
Sexuality>> Heterosexual
Face Claim>> Hunter Hayes
Personality>> There are several words that can be used to describe Isaiah; determined, contemplative, compassionate, intelligent, disciplined, nostalgic, introverted, and loving.
First of all, determination is something Isaiah is not lacking. The youngest of five siblings, all of them boys, he has learned from a young age to be persistent or things he wishes to achieve. All of his brothers took the competitive route, most in show jumping and one in dressage. But not Isaiah. He is determined to follow in his great-great-grandfather's footsteps and return to the Netherlands to breed fine quality Friesian horses, to become renowned for those horses and to earn a name for himself in the cutthroat world of equine breeding.
Contemplative is a big word, but it basically means Isaiah sits in silence and thinks before he acts. He thinks about things he has witnessed or things overheard, whether or not they will affect his schooling or the well-being of his horse or not. Isaiah is the kind of man who prefers to think about his words and actions carefully, knowing each syllable and action has a consequence, good or bad.
Even though he was picked on quite a lot as a child, Isaiah was always the compassionate one. He'd help care for his brothers if they were sick or hurt, and was always the one to help the veterinarian with the horses, regardless of what was asked of him. It is this attitude that makes him a poor competitor, but a wonderful friend. He shows too much compassion for fellow men and women, so competing is very difficult for poor Isaiah. He does like to listen, however, and will assist friends and foes if they are in need.
Intelligent...now that is definitely Isaiah. His grades have always been top notch, save for physical education and sports apart from equestrian ones. Isaiah can often be found in his dorm room or in the common room with his nose pressed into a book, notes and various tomes scattered around him while he researches. The academic endeavors seem to suit his mind the most, and though it has amounted in several bullies picking on him, Isaiah wouldn't change it for the world. However, as a perfectionist, his intelligence may take longer to translate on paper, for he takes his time to ensure (at least in his mind) that it is perfect.
Isaiah's discipline and determination go hand-in-hand. His determination drives his discipline; his studies are top priority, though he does spend time practicing and working with his horse. Though only 17, Isaiah has the discipline to say 'no' to his friends, to stay inside and study rather than go to the cinema in town, or to practice in the ring instead of going swimming. Isaiah knows that his discipline and determination will take him places and allow him to be successful, especially with graduation looming in the Spring.
Ah nostalgia...Isaiah does not admit it to many, but he loves nostalgia. Particularly, he loves oliebollen, a Dutch pastry that closely resembles a donut without a hole. It reminds him of afternoons spent on his grandparents' ranch, and while they are gone, he loves the smell and taste, for it brings back good memories. The same goes for old books...As a child, Isaiah would spend his time reading through his grandfather's books to learn as much as he could, even if they were in Dutch.
Parties and large crowds don't interest Isaiah. He is an introvert, someone who becomes physically and emotionally exhausted after spending large amounts of time with people. He needs time alone to recharge, to clear his mind. His friends are few, but those he counts as friends, he is close to. You won't find Isaiah at the dance clubs or out at parties. No, instead you'll find him either in the barn or library if he is not in his dorm. Peace and quiet are his serenity, his little piece of heaven in a chaotic world.
Love is a four letter word that often seems foreign to many people. Isaiah is not one of them. He loves freely, even his competitors and enemies. Growing up in a very religious household, he was always told to 'Love thy neighbor', and so he does. He loves everyone, not expecting people to love him back. It is a selfless thing to do, but Isaiah feels it is right.
With all that being said, Isaiah is far from perfect. His determination and discipline are something to applaud, but people rarely see the downside to it. Isaiah has been known to skip meals for he is too engrossed in reading his book or working on homework. Sleep has also been neglected on several occasions. Isaiah cares for everyone, but in doing so, he often overlooks himself, putting others' well-being ahead of his own. It has been something plaguing him since childhood, casting him into a shadow of his own doing. Isaiah is aware this is going on, but he cannot bring himself to change. He would rather care too much than to not care at all.
Another thing about Isaiah is that he does not like change all that much. Nostalgia is his friend, but new things...they frighten him. Isaiah loved Amsterdam. While it was not his birthplace nor where he grew up, he had spent years of his life there. It was home, it was safe, and Isaiah felt torn apart when he came back to the US. Some things have been good, like cellphones and the internet, but he continues to cling to the past, to what is familiar and safe.
Isaiah has a love-hate relationship with his introverted nature. Sure, it's nice to have your alone time and to be able to recharge, but the majority of people, especially ones his own age, think it means he would rather stay at home than go out. Granted, some nights that is exactly true, but Isaiah merely wants to be invited along, not have people assume he'd rather stay home. Some nights he wished to go out, but friends had already gone out without him, assuming the introverted boy would be happier at home. Isaiah sums it up best: "I like being alone, but I don't like being lonely."
Likes>> If he were to list each and every single thing he likes, Isaiah would be here all day. To narrow it down, his absolute favorites are oliebollen, horses, old books, crackling fireplaces, sunsets, lemonade, crisp apples, fresh sheets, new socks, fresh snowfall, the changing leaves in fall, and the joys of seeing a newborn foal for the first time.
Dislikes>> The dislikes list is far shorter than the likes list. Mostly, Isaiah dislikes snakes, blizzards, coffee, bullies, paper cuts, fish, and artichokes.
Fears>> Isaiah's biggest fears are spiders, heights, being buried alive, and disappointing his family. The last one is his all-time greatest fear.
Hopes>> Isaiah's hopes are fairly simple. He wants to get married and start a family, and he also wants to have a career working with horses. Isaiah's a simple man, so his simple hopes suit him.
Secrets>> His secret, though it may not seem like that big of a deal, is that he gave into lust and lost his virginity last summer to his summer romance. He regrets it deeply, and would never want to bring that up with his family.
Appearance>> Isaiah's quite plain when you really think about it. He's not overly tall, 6 foot even, and fairly average build. Granted, his muscle tone is more than most boys his age, but nothing to qualify him as a model or anything. Isaiah has odd hair. It's brunet, but turns a sandy color when exposed to large amounts of sunshine, such as in the summer. It's also notoriously messy, and Isaiah tries to rein it in, but has since give up doing too much to his hair. A comb and some water, and a prayer, are all he really needs these days. Isaiah looks far younger than 17; he often gets told he looks 14 or younger. He really is 17, almost 18, though. His birth certificate confirms this.
His style of dress is also fairly average. Mostly t-shirts with Doctor Who plastered on them, some plain, mostly navy blue or black. He wears dark denim jeans or riding pants, dress pants if the occasion calls for it. He has an outfit he wears for shows, but apart from that, his normal clothes are his tees, jeans, and a worn out pair of red Converse when not in the barn. Isaiah prefers boxer briefs over boxers or briefs, and he sleeps in a t-shirt and track pants. Nothing too fancy.
The only real extraordinary thing about Isaiah would be his eyes. All of his siblings had the same hazel eyes, but not Isaiah. His are different depending on the light. Sometimes they are bright blue, others a muted grey. Some days his eyes are a brown with blue flecks in them; no two days are the same. It's what makes him unique, makes him special in a family where they all look alike.
Markings>> No tattoos or piercings. Has a scar in the back of his mouth from when his wisdom teeth were removed at the age of 16. Also has a small scar across the front of his knee from an accident with a barbed wire fence when he was 6.
Medical History>> Has wisdom teeth removed last year at age 16. Has an allergy to latex, but is not life threatening. Broke his wrist in the same accident when he got the scar on his knee.
Criminal History>> There was a time when he was 11 that he was out riding around twilight and forgot his reflective vest. Police told him he should be wearing one and that was that. No law breaking or any criminal record. Not even traffic tickets.
Full History>> Isaiah Isaac Beringer was born to Joseph and Marta on January 10th, 1998 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of six children, all boys, and grew up on their small dairy farm and horse ranch. Isaiah's early days were spent toddling behind his father to the barn while he milked, and to see the "horsies" in the barn while his older brothers were learning how to ride and take care of their equine friends.
He first went to visit his grandparents in the Netherlands when he was 6 years old. His family took a trip there to show their boys what the family had been a part of...Friesian breeding. Isaiah fell in love with the fluffy black horses, and with his dear Opa's guidance, he learned to ride on an old mare named Hera. It was the spark that ignited the young boy's passion, one that would stay with him for years to come.
With his brothers getting into the world of horses, with jumping and dressage, Isaiah found himself at the age of 9 wanting to join as well. He sat with his parents, discussing if it was possible for him to live in the Netherlands with his grandparents, to help them on their ranch and to assist with the breeding program. After filing the necessary paperwork, Isaiah moved to a large farm outside Amsterdam, helping his Oma and Opa with the care of the horses and learning to speak Dutch fluently while he was there.
Sadly, Oma and Opa passed away when Isaiah was 16. His parents sold the ranch and used the money to help their own farm and to help their boys pursue their dreams. Knowing there were several excellent riding schools in the US, Isaiah and his parents began to research, finally settling on Blue Ridge in Kentucky. He knows he is starting a bit behind the others, but Isaiah figures that with hard work and determination, he can catch up to his classmates. Especially since his beloved mare was granted permission to be flown into the US from the Netherlands.
Now, Isaiah is excited to begin this next chapter in his life and to see what things await him here at one of the most prestigious riding academies in the United States.
