Blue Ridge is a fictional town located deep in the heart of Kentucky. It is home to one of the most well known equestrian academies in the United States. Students and staff from all over the world join the academy for what it has to offer. Do you have what it takes to join us and learn from the Academy?

Demeter left the clinic in the capable hands of her vet student and decided to go and spend some time with her handsome sportshorse. She didn't have any appointments and had her cell on her should anyone need her. "Hey Tau, Tau." She greeted the Black Tobiano Pinto as she got to his door. "Yes, I missed you too." She lifted the gelding's pastel yellow halter and lead from the hook and entered the gelding's stall. "There's a good boy." She smiled as he lowered his head for the halter.
Leading the gelding out of his stall, and they headed outside to the hitching rings out there. She was tempted to take him down to a grooming stall, but she felt that he had been inside enough, and there was also the hope with her grooming him outside would encourage others to do the same.
Tying the gelding up - so that he had enough length to crop on the grass around the posts of the hitching rail, but not so much that he was try and walk off and get tangled up in the rope. Then, leaving the gelding, she headed back inside and down to the tack room to grab his grooming kit. Returning to the gelding, she offered him the sugar cubes she had taken from the supply in the treat box and offered them to the handsome animal as she placed the kit on the ground, pulled out the rubber curry comb and began to work his coat in a circular motion to lift all the dust to the surface.

It had rained recently but with the hot summer that living in Kentucky presented it quickly turned into a dust pit again, Lulu was out in the pastures when it did rain and only had dried mud to about her fetlock, not even. Arriving at the Red Willow barn with the Walkaloosa mare in her stall, the thirty year old gave her a pat and continued on. Being the extremely talkative equine that she was she let a few whinnies to let Aaron know exactly where she was. Walking to the tack room he grabbing her grooming kit and bluish colored nylon halter and lead Aaron returned to Lulu. Entering her stall she nudged at him to see if he had some hidden treats."You're lucky Miss Lulu." Patting the equine's neck he pulled out a carrot and broke it into three pieces and fed it to her strategically using part of it to lure her into her halter.
"Good mare." He coaxed the mare out of her stall; apparently she was feeling the laziness that was floating around in the summer months. Picking up the groom kit once again Aaron led Lulu out and tied her to a hitching ring. The Walkaloosa was one to wander to different things if she was dropped tied. Seeing Demeter with her gelding and being the friendly person he was Aaron said, "Hello Miss Carr." Even though most of the staff at the academy went on a first name basis Aaron was always one to call them by a more formal name unless he was told otherwise.

Once she had finished with the curry comb, Demeter used the gelding's soft body brush to flick away the dirt that the rubber implement had brought to the surface of his coat, causing his sparkling white patches to look grubby. Using long sweeping movements with the brush, she swept the dirt off his coat and - as Murphy's Law would have it - all over her. "Why did I choose to wear a black top?" She asked the gelding, who was contentedly grazing on the lush grass that grew around the hitching area.
She followed Tau's gaze as another horse and handler approached. She gave Aaron a smile, but his words changed her smile into a withering look. She knew that the man called the other adults by their surnames, but not only did is wig her out as she was his junior, but she was the equine veterinarian, so if he had to be all formal, he could have at least used her proper title and called her Dr Carr, after all the only adult around the academy that called her Demeter was her mother. "Hello Aaron" She replied, keeping her tone neutral.
Dropping the brush back into the grooming box, she bent down and rummaged through until she found the gelding's black hoof pick and straightened up again. Placing her hand on his near shoulder, she ran her hand down the leg with a simple. "Up." as she reached the knee, and by the time her hand got half way down the cannon bone the gelding lifted his hoof so that her hand cupped his fetlock and she quickly cleared the hoof out, taking the time to check it before she lowered it to the ground again and moving to the back leg.
