The gymnasium. It was large and quite to his liking, even though he would have preferred to have his class outside… it just wasn’t feasible what with the weather being so cold. Isaac stood, arms crossed, surveying the gym one last time before deciding that the rubber mats on the floor were good where they were and he wasn’t going to rearrange them again.
He had a good idea for how he wanted his class to go. Isaac was planning on starting with P.T. P.T., or Physical Training, was always a good starting point and he wanted to get a feel for how in shape his students were. His P.E classes weren’t going to be all fun and games, they were going to focus on getting in shape as well as having fun. That’s what the mats were for. Isaac had them laid out so that his students would stand facing him and he them. They’d start with basic stretches; the Hamstring Stretch, Toe Touch, and Over-Arm Bend. After limbering up, they’d do a few exercises before being released to do whatever they liked for the rest of the period. The exercises he was planning on having them do included Push-Ups, Sit-Ups and Crunches, and Side Straddle Hops (aka Jumping Jacks). Then, he planned on having the students run four laps around the gym. He’d start out easy and add tougher exercises as they went along.
Isaac wasn’t too worried about his students not showing up prepared. The night before he’d sent out a mass email detailing his goals for the class and what the students should expect to be doing and what to bring to change into in the locker rooms (in this case, gym shorts and a t-shirt or jogging clothes… something comfortable that wasn’t jeans and ‘school’ clothes). The email also explained that the Phys. Ed. and Health classes would rotate, with the first class being P.E and the second being Health and so on and so forth and the P.E classes would meet in the Gymnasium until warmer weather, upon which they’d meet outside in the field or at the track most of the time. At the end of the semester there would be an exam in both Physical Education and Health.
Isaac himself wore long gym shorts and a simple t-shirt. A thin gold chain hung around his neck along with a gym whistle and a pair of sunglasses sat perched atop his head. On his feet were comfortable sneakers and a gold watch was on his wrist. He glanced at the watch. His class started in fifteen minutes and he hoped his students had taken his email to heart and arrived in time to change into their gym clothes. He’d hate have to take points and be labeled the ‘bad guy’ on his first day.
