Blue Ridge is a fictional town located deep in the heart of Kentucky. It is home to one of the most well known equestrian academies in the United States. Students and staff from all over the world join the academy for what it has to offer. Do you have what it takes to join us and learn from the Academy?

Waving to the last of his algebra one as the exited his room and were off to their next class. Phillip quickly slipped out of the room and to the teacher’s lounge. He loved his coffee and before his last class he had emptied his mug. Pouring the coffee from the carafe into his travel mug, he put the carafe back where he got it and capped his mug.
Walking in a quick manner back to his classroom he was relieved to see that none of his algebra two students had shown up yet. Taking of a sip of his coffee the man smiled as the liquid warmed his body. Sitting the mug on his desk he walked to the board for the third time today and uncapped his blue marker. Writing System of Equations across the board. Nodding, now this was something he loved to each and to work on.
Phillip looked through his class list to see if he remembered any student from last year and he did. Taking a deep breath he got ready for his incoming students. The list was just as long as his algebra one class so it wasn’t going to be extremely different with numbers.
Kate's holiday at home had been wonderful, as expected. She always loved returning home on her vacations, and this one had been wonderful. It was Peter's last summer before he went to university, and she'd spent as much time as she could with him. She'd left Cailin and Poet at Blue Ridge, since it wasn't worth putting them through the stress of a plane ride just for a couple months, and she trusted that they would be in good care at the school. Therefore, she'd had more time than usual without riding all the time, and she and Peter had fulfilled everything they'd needed to before he left.
Now, back at Blue Ridge, Kate was thrown right back into classes, riding, and dance, but she wasn't too thrown off, since she had kept busy over the summer, riding Madeline, her old Fjord pony, and dancing all the time at her old academy with lots of private lessons from Madame. Her first class of the year had gone as expected, and Kate was now on to Algebra Two. Entering the classroom, she smiled at the teacher and took a seat in the second row, taking out her materials so that she'd be ready when the class started.
Many students dreaded returning to school, but Donalbain couldn't be more excited. Finally, something to do! More precisely, something for his brain to do! Even he had to admit that there was such thing as too much computer. He had resisted any more hacking into the school system, so he didn't know who he was going to share classes with. But that was all part of the excitement, wasn't it? Sure. He scoffed as he took a parting glance in the bathroom mirror. A Hollister polo and khakis had seemed appropriate in the morning, and he was satisfied with his choice of clothes. Next class, Algebra II.
Donalbain breezed through the hallways, periodically checking his memory to ensure that he was heading in the right direction. He walked into the classroom and saw that he was the second student to arrive. He picked the exact middle desk to sit in, like he always did. He took out a blank spiral notebook and labeled it 'Math'. A pen appeared on his desk as well. Pencils, he felt, were for those who anticipated making a mistake. Yes, he hadn't ever taken Algebra II before, but it should be easy enough to pick up on.
As the students trickled in, Donalbain hoped that this class would provide at least a little bit of intellectual stimulation. If not, well, that meant he could afford to sleep in a little more. He dreamt about coding anyway.

Blythe didn't enjoy her classes as much as some did, but she could admit that it would be good to have something to do rather than just a long day of nothing planned, until cheer practice, that was. As her previous class was released, she shouldered her bag and walked out of the classroom, stopping by the bathroom to check on her makeup before she found her way to her math class, just a door down from the class that she had taken the previous year. That was probably one of the benefits of a smaller school, she mused. Nothing was really hard to find after a few weeks.
Glancing around at the students that had already arrived, judging both of them before moving to a seat separate from both of them, at the edge of the second row. After pulling out a spiral notebook and a pencil, she tapped it against the blank page, the rhythm increasing in time with her annoyance, until she sighed and rolled her eyes at the wait, bending to write the title for the day's lesson across the top of the page, adding in some swirls and doodles for good measure, before writing in the date.
Math and science were more his strong suit so it was made Jackson happy to go to his math class next. He was glad that he decided to move up to the next level of math as he knew it would challenge him for the better. Although last year he wasn’t in Phillip’s class that was not the case this year. Algebra two was indeed Phillip’s upper level class and Jackson was happy that he was in it.
The whole being in large crowds wasn’t exactly Jackson’s thing and he hated it. Entering the class quickly he saw that there were already three students. Offering a smile to Phillip he took a seat and pulled out his notebook and a pen. Reading the three words written across the board, Jackson copied them onto his clean notebook; he knew a little about Systems of Equation; only from Phillip babbling about them back at home.
He sat there waiting for the rest of the students arrive. He hoped that most decided that they didn’t want to come, but with this being a private academy, he doubted it. He just didn’t want to have a large class, he knew that Phillip would call on him and the last thing he wanted was to be embarrassed because he didn’t know the right answer.

Next up math, the subject wasn’t Danny’s favorite but it wasn’t her most dreaded class either, that would be science. She moved up in the level mostly because it was a requirement to graduate and it looked good on her transcript. She walked at the pace the rest of the students did through the hallway, luckily from the way she was coming she didn’t have to dart through a line of students coming from the other way.
Danny was happy to see that she wasn’t the first student and, judging by amount of students, not the last one either. Taking a seat she set her book bag down and retrieved a notebook and pen. Scribbling down the day and what the lesson was going to be on she was happy to know that it was something she had at least heard about before, she wasn’t completely blind going into the lesson.
Sitting back in her seat she waited for the last of the students to trickle in and for Mr. Mack to start class. Danielle hoped that this class would be over soon and that she would be able to go eat and then ride Remi after lunch, she let out a deep breath.

Serenity took a drink of water from the bottle in her bag as she walked from one class to the next, pleased that her headache was slowly vanishing, as she really couldn't handle having it get worse as the day went on, her first class was hard enough with trying to concentrate around the feeling of a cleaver through her skull.
She walked into the Algebra classroom and smiled towards their teacher. "Morning Mr Mackenzie." She greeted him before she went and found herself a seat at a table near the middle of the room. She pulled her Algebra folder from her bag, along with a handful of pens and began to set her page up, ready for that day's lesson. Sure, she would say she liked math, but she'd never say it was her favourite class.
She then looked around the room, smiling at the few people who made eye contact with her, and she once again wished she'd had the hindsight to go to the nurse and get something for her head, or even told Coach when it had happened. She began to doodle around the edges of her page as she waited for class to start.
Light of eye and soft of touch, speak ye little, listen much. Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Athena was excited as she walked down the hall toward her mathematics class, sure she was weird, but she loved maths! Ever had since she started skating and realised how much maths went into skating... well maths and physics anyway. "Hey Mr Mackenzie." She greeted as she walked into the room and found herself an empty table.
She pulled out the book and pencil case from her bag and began to get ready for the class to start, She knew that the new her was going to be a bit of a shock to the teachers, and some of the students, especially compared to the her of last year who never said anything to anyone. However, she was slowly but surely coming out of her shell, one could say that she was finally growing into the name she had been given. That thought made her smile, though she didn't think she would ever be as strong and wise as her namesake, though it was something to strive toward now that she wasn't so scared of her own shadow.
Opening the book, she dated the top of the page and turned her attention to the board, excited to get started on the work that the topic on the board promised.
Irina grabbed her book bag off the floors d started putting her folder and notebook into it. The bell had just rung and she stood up from her seat. Pushing in her chair she walked towards the door. She said goodbye to her teacher and headed to her next class.
Her hair was in a Russian braid and she wearing black formal pants and a nice blue blouse with black heels. Though it was considered business like almost in America it was something she'd wear to school back in Russia. She had on mascara, black eyeliner, and a little bit of lip gloss. That was normally the makeup she wore everyday.
Walking to her Algebra Two class she had chosen the class because even though she was taught Calculus in tenth grade she needed to take a math class next year and didn't want to take Calculus two years in a row at Blue Ridge when she had taken it a year ago.
Irina loved math. She was good at it. Very good at it. She had been at the top of her class back in Russia. Though she'd had top marks in all of her classes back in Russia math was one of her favorite classes. She liked science, and did well with languages. Back in Russia she'd taken French and English and had chosen French as her language for this year. She'd probably take French next year as well. It made no sense to change to German after taking three years of French. Besides she liked French.
Walking into the math class she said a hello to the teacher and walked to an almost empty table that already had a brown haired girl sitting there. Sitting down she set her bag on the floor and took out her notebook that was labeled 'Algebra Two'. Taking out a black pen she opened the notebook to a clean page and dated the page with her name, class and class period, as well as the date. She wrote down the three words on the board as the topic of what they'd be learning today. She set her pen down next to her notebook so she could grab it quickly if she needed to.
Twisting the gold ring on her right ring finger she couldn't help but wonder why Alexei had given it to her. He had asked that she wear it on her right finger and she had obliged his wish. However it was a gold ring...gold rings worn on right ring fingers in Russia were seen as engagement and wedding rings. They were the only rings married couples wore and both her parents wore their rings on their right ring fingers. Her stomach fluttered as she wondered why he had asked that she wear it on her ring finger. She stopped twisting the ring around her finger and returned her attention to the class even though not all the students had arrived yet.
Luka made his way to his next class, a faint headache pounding at his temples. The summer holiday had come and gone, and now he had to get used to being back in the classroom environment. For many things, he had to be focussed at all times, because a lack of concentration on his part, meant that he could either be lost for the rest of the class, or simply a loss of information for that segment. Either situation he wanted to avoid. Bruno, his service dog, and closest friend, padded silently at his heels. The bustle of the halls had been reduced, and he slipped into his first pre-algebra class of the year. Taking his seat in the front of the class, he took out a pen and notebook, quickly writing the heading down.
With a routine established, the black and tan dog lay down under his chair and rested his head on his paws, merely watching the going on's of the class. As always, Luka trusted the dog to alert him to anything that needed his attention. His deafness controlled his life, and limited him to activities other people took for granted. Watching a movie without closed captioning, or listening to music, or even being able to sit any where in a classroom, were just some examples of which Luka had dreamed of doing. It was not to be.
He waited patiently for the class to start, which he hoped would happen soon.
Seeing some old and new faces, of the old faces was Jackson. Phillip wasn’t one to give special treatment and so he just smiled and nodded to his son. He remembered he had a student who was deaf and took it upon himself to make up a packet this student so he could follow along. Phillip would have to remember to face the class for this period, so his words wouldn’t get missed.
He saw Luka sit down and made his way over to him and handed him his packet. As the bell rung, the teacher made his way back to the front of the room and turned to face his students. ”Welcome to Algebra II everyone.” Phillip called role before anything else. He liked to make sure all of his students were present before starting the class; this helped him know if he would be expecting any more students later in class. Seeing that all his students were there he began class.
”For those of you who don’t know me I’m Mr. Mackenzie or Mr. Mack whichever you prefer.” He pointed to the board. ”So does anyone want to explain what system of equations are?” He liked to start class of with a question about his lesson to get a feel of who liked to talk or who was comfortable with what to be exact.

Blythe watched the rest of the students enter, imperceptibly frowning as she spotted her Creative Cooking partner, or rather, the girl she'd been stuck in, although she didn't comment, instead turning back to the teacher, waiting for him to begin the class.
Upon hearing her name, she frowned and spoke up, "It's Blythe, please." Sure, her tone was somewhat commanding as she spoke her chosen name, but at least she'd added a please, right? She couldn't stand being called Adonya, it was her paternal grandmother's name, and she didn't want anything from her father except his money... Not that he actually offered anything else.
She listened to the teacher's introduction, although it wasn't anything new to her, and then followed his finger to the board. This was even actually something she vaguely remembered! She raised her hand, and upon being acknowledged, gave a vague answer, including only those things that she was certain of, rather than going into depth and possibly saying something wrong, "A system of equations is a set of equations that you deal with together." She couldn't remember why, or what one was supposed to do with the information, but at least she'd participated. Now she could stop paying attention, having payed her tithe of participation.
Donalbain stifled a yawn while he waited for the rest of his class to arrive. Once the bell had rung, he took a glance around at the assembled students. From what he'd heard about the school, they had a medium-sized group. Not too big, but not terribly small either. He was used to classes this size from his previous school, and had found that, for teachers, it was probably the optimal size. There were enough students to differentiate it from a private tutoring session, but not so many that students could blend into the background. Not that Donalbain did much of that, anyway.
He turned his attention back to the teacher - Mr. Mackenzie - and gave a slight frown as he ran a search through his brain. True to his nature, he had lightly skimmed through an Algebra II textbook during the summer, just to get a feel for what he would be learning this school year. While at his old school, where people knew his family, he had felt pressure to always be the first hand in the air. Here, an unknown, Donalbain was surprised that he didn't feel the same obligation. However, when another student did offer a response, his hand shot up. No way was he going to be shown up.
"A system of equations consists of two or more functions. This method is used to find solutions common to all functions." He described.
Jackson listened to Phillip’s introduction and knew he probably would have a hard time not calling Phillip, well Phillip. He knew it would take a while before he got used to calling him by the appropriate name, which he decided was going to be Mr. Mack. It was more casual and how much more casual could you get than being “father and son”?
He then thought about the question that was proposed to the whole class, though he knew what the answer was another student had already answered it and so Jackson was quiet, which he didn’t mind as he would have rather not spoke up in front of the whole class. He sat back and listened as Mr. Mack continued the lesson. Jackson was pretty sure he would know more answers to the infinite amount of questions, Phillip would ask but that didn’t mean he would answer them aloud.
The boy scribbled down the answer that another student gave to answer the question. He relaxed knowing that he wouldn’t have to answer it. Jackson went off in a daze as the class continued, quickly shaking himself out of it, his luck he would have been called on and not known what was happening.
