Rebecca took a final look around her room and nodded, exhaling a deep breath. This was it. The desks were arranged in typical classroom formation, save for a gap in the middle of the first two rows. At the front of the room was a long counter with a sink at one end. It was perfect for little demonstrations, like the one she had planned for her first class. On the counter was a bunsen burner, a gummy bear, and a test tube, containing some white powder, on a rack.

The new teacher looked at the clock and hurried to grab the pile of syllabi she had prepared. She propped the classroom door open with a spare desk, on which she put the syllabi. It was heavily implied, she hoped, that her students were supposed to take one as they entered. When the bell rang to release the previous class, Rebecca pulled her safety goggles over her eyes and switched the burner on. With a pair of tongs, she held the end of the test tube over the flame, waiting for the powder to melt. This was how her students would see her as they entered. She didn't speak, nor did she look up.

When the final bell rang, Rebecca extinguished the flame and quickly pushed the gummy bear into the gas-filled test tube. As the 'bear' gurgled and flashed, she finally smiled and looked up at her students. Once the reaction had gone to completion, she set the test tube back on the rack and spread her hands. "Welcome to Biology."

Classes for Donalbain had been going well so far. He had fallen into a comfortable routine, only to have it interrupted by the arrival of a new teacher. It appeared that he would be taught biology after all. He quickly scribbled in a few last words on his assignment just as the bell rang. He tucked the paper in his folder to prevent it from being lost or, even worse, wrinkled up. He pulled up the mental map he had of the school, determining the path to his new class in a rather mechanical manner.

The biology classroom was fairly close to the class that had just ended, and it did not surprise him that he was the first student to arrive. He gave a little frown of confusion as the woman standing in the front of the room failed to acknowledge his presence. It wasn't that he thought so highly of himself, but in his experience, teachers tended to greet their students. Or at the very least, be attentive as their pupils filtered in. Donalbain shrugged and took a seat just to the right of the gap.

He watched the teacher for a moment, trying to decipher what it was that she was doing. He found, to his disappointment, that he could not tell by color alone what substance was in the test tube. His question was soon answered as soon as the bell rang. His gaze was riveted on the bubbling, white-veiled tube, and he couldn't stop the small, impressed grin from spreading on his face.

Finn ran his hand through his hair as he walked from his class down to the science labs, displacing the way he had styled it earlier with the gel that was in there. He then paused long enough to fix his hair so that it wasn't standing on end, before he continued on toward the biology lab. Classes so far had been what he expected, the teachers were good and pushed the students to give their best, even more so if said student wanted to dig his heels in.

Walking through the open door, he grabbed a syllabus from the desk holding the door open and went to find a set at one of the tables. He arched his eyebrows when the teacher didn't even greet him, though he could see that she was busy working some experiment, so he brushed it aside as he shrugged off his bomber jacket and folded it, ready to drop it over his bag once he had what he needed.

After taking the book for the class out of his bag, along with his pencil case, he dropped the bag onto the floor and dropped the jacket over the top of it. He then rolled up the sleeves of the shirt he was wearing and settled himself at the desk; where he turned his attention to what the teacher was doing. He could be a bit of a pyrotechnic when he wanted to be, so anything that involved holding something over a flame captured his interest.

Tommy had his phone in his hand as he walked from one class to the next, busy trying to console Serenity, who hadn't done too well on a quiz they had had in class. He tried to tell her she was bring too hard on herself, the school year was just starting, but no matter what he said, she could have done better, she should have worked harder.

With a sigh, he pocketed the phone and walked into the biology lab, grabbing a paper off the table that was holding the door open, and went to find himself a table. He didn't know either of the males who were already in the room, so he found a table by himself, wondering if he would know anyone who was taking this class.

His attention turned to the woman at the front of the room, a little intrigued with the way she had snubbed his arrival, though he did see that she was in the middle of an experiment. Other then candles, Tommy wasn't the biggest fan of flames - especially not after he had been accused of burning down a church a year ago, but he was interested to know that their teacher was doing and if they would get to attempt the same experiment once class started.

Cara placed her hand on her stomach as she headed toward the science labs, she wasn't sure how she felt about taking biology. In some ways she thought that it would be good to keep her mind busy, but on the other hand, she wasn't sure how she would react to actually having to cut anything up. She abhorred violence in any way, shape or form, and she didn't know if she could morally cut up anything - yes, even dead. She shook the thought out of her head as she skirted around the other students in the hallway, making sure not to walk between people who were talking while remained as invisible as possible.

At the door to the classroom, she paused long enough to take a cleansing breath and stepped forward. Spotting the papers on the table that was holding the door open, she took one and then looked around the class, barely holding back a shiver when she saw that so far there were only male students, though with the woman at the front of the room, working through an experiment, she allowed herself to relax a little before she walked over to an empty table.

Taking the things she would need from her bag, she began to set her area up with methodical precision and then she put on her wire-rimmed glasses so that she could watch what the teacher was doing, without actually looking as though she was paying any attention, while her eyes also ran over the class syllabus.

Stefan left his previous classroom and walked towards the biology class, which he hadn't entered yet, as their teacher had been late in arriving... Or late in the school year? He wasn't sure what the exact politics had been, but there had been no biology for a bit. He was glad to have his schedule filled, however, as the period was only good for doing homework, and was usually too early in the day to do much good for that.

As he entered the classroom, he took a piece of paper, not looking down at it as he spoke, “Good morning, Ms. Li.” He realized that she was working on something, and chose the seat next to Tommy, greeting the boy with a friendly, “Morning!” before he pulled out his notebook and pen, then turned his attention to the front of the room, where the teacher was still melting something over the fire.

After more people had trickled in, the teacher dropped what passed for a gummy bear in America into the test tube, causing quite an interesting reaction. If nothing else, it was quite the interest-grabbing opening, and Stefan couldn't help but smile at the remnants of the experiment, or demonstration, as it were.
