It had snowed again recently, and Rose had not yet ridden in the snow. She'd been busy, but today she'd found the time to take out one of her horses on the trails. She was accustomed to there being much more snow than there was here, being from Connecticut, but there was enough for it to be fun. She would always ride Vintage out in the pastures and on the trails back home when it snowed, and it was always very fun and gorgeous. The snow made it so quiet, and one could only hear the creaking of their saddle as they rode.
She had been thinking about bringing Eleanor out, but she didn't know how the mare would react to the snow, and she really had her heart set on riding bareback. She'd certainly want to use a saddle when bringing her out on the trails in the snow for the first time. Besides, she'd been spending loads of time with Eleanor lately, and it would be nice to bring Vintage out in the snow, for old time's sake. After leaving a note in Ms. Carr's office saying that she would be riding out on the Green Hill Trail, she found Vintage in her stall and greeted the mare with a kiss.
Taking off her blanket, she quickly checked her hooves and swept her over with a body brush before finding the mare's bridle in the tack room. After bridling her, she put her helmet on and led the mare out, mounting at the mounting block. She was wearing her full seat breeches, so she had little trouble gripping, and began to walk Vintage out to the Green Hill Trail. The wide, even trail would be pretty and the safer of the trails, especially in the snow.
