Mycroft always wanted a change of pace when it came to his classes. Even though the year hadn't even started, he was already bored with the subject matter. However luckily for him European History was broad, and the cultural differences between the various European countries even broader. For the first class of the year he decided to change pace and delve into that a little bit. Besides, understanding the similarities and differences between the countries would help his students understand the events of their history better, at least that was the plan.
Taping several prints to the whiteboard, he wrote letters besides each of them before writing a list of countries nearby the pictures. He was very curious as to what his students would write for the answers. At least he was giving them a key of sorts to work from, he could hardly imagine what the answers would be without one.
Patiently he waiting for each of his students to come in, greeting them politely as they greeted him. Once the bell rang he stood up, walking around to the front of his desk and leaning against it. "Greetings, my name is Mr. Hollins and this year we will be talking about various pieces of European History. However history can be rather dry sometimes, so we're going to begin the class without something different. There are nine paintings of various styles on the board here. I would like you all to take a guess using the word bank of countries, where each painting originated from. Then we'll go over each painting together. Sound fair?"
Once he's gotten a decent affirmation he allowed them five minutes to write their responses before continuing, "All right, let's start with painting A. Would anyone like to take a guess which country it originates from?"
Germany, England, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium, and Switzerland.
