Personality>> She is a gentle girl; not too forward, not too slow. She’s pleasant to ride and soft on the bit, but in the pasture it’s another story. This mare will run from you like she’s never been handled in her life. Once you finally manage to catch her, she leads really well and makes sure not to step on you or bump into you. She takes a little encouragement when it comes to lunging, but once she gets started she’s happy to get to work. When she’s just standing still, it’s easy to see how laid-back and relaxed she is. There’s no fidgeting and hardly any chewing on the bit. It’s really a good thing, especially when it comes to grooming.
Caution Around>> Needles, or the vet in general. She really doesn’t like vets.

Basic History>> She was born on a farm in the U.S. After she was weaned, she was sold. Her new owner started her under the saddle and started her in dressage. At first she seemed hopeless, so she was sold again. The next owner she had didn’t give up as easily. One day something clicked and it was like she’d never had an issue. She stayed with that owner for a few good years, but due to a health problem in the owner’s family, Babe was put up for sale again. This time she was purchased by the Valentine family as a gift for Chase. The two have been best friends since then.

Personality>> She has a lot of nervous energy; plenty of jigging and head tossing, but she doesn't try too hard to get loose. When she's working, she behaves a bit better, responding quickly to cues both in-hand and under the saddle. As long as she's given a job to do, she typically behaves. She tends to get very dirty when left out in the pasture, and she also likes to stick her face in the water trough and splash it all over the place. Too bad she has a light coat. And finally, she makes ugly faces when other horses get too close. The thing that frightens her most is flickering lights, so it's best to keep all the lights in good working order.

Basic History>> The Clown was born in Spain on a small but successful farm that specialized in Andalusians and Lusitanos. Even as a foal she had silly habits, like splashing water all over the place. She chased the dogs, she fought with the other foals. Just enjoying life, really.

As soon as she was old enough, they started training her in dressage, and everyone was pleased with her skill. She wasn't a miracle horse or a prodigy, but she was smart and learned quickly. She has some show experience and she's even been involved in a few in-hand exhibitions. Chase's father bought her over the summer, and she finds herself at Blue Ridge.
