Becca leaned against the fence of Frye's pasture, forearms resting on the wood with her chin resting on her folded hands. March was finally getting nice, and she was glad that winter was over. Frye however was experiencing what most horse people would call "spring fever," and was even friskier than usual. She'd brought the gelding out to his pasture after the lessons, knowing that he would appreciate the time outside, especially after being kept up for much of the winter.
It was late afternoon, and the sky was just beginning to turn pretty colors. She appreciated that the sun was setting later and later, as it just gave her more time to get things done at the barn, as she tried to be back in her room by the time the sun was down. Now, with Frye's lead rope hanging over her arm, she stopped to watch her horse enjoying himself in the pasture.
Frye always made a bit of a scene when he was first let out, and he did even now, after a cross country class. He trotted back and forth a couple of times, tail flagged out and head low with his neck arched. After a bit he settled down to graze, seeming to be appreciative of the grass that was no longer covered by snow.
