Demeter Carr was doing her rounds through the clinic barn, checking on the few horses that she currently hand on site, and keeping away from the few that she had nothing to do with - making sure to keep her distance and not even talk to Dynamite. She took notes on the couple that had recently been through surgical procedures and then was going to walk through to her office just when she heard the approach of a vehicle. "They're here already?" She asked the barn as she bounced on the spot in excitement an then put back on her professional mask and walked toward the barn entrance, where she could see the dust rising from where the horse truck had turned around.
"You Dr Bar?" The driver, a large man with tattoos running down both his arms asked as he swung himself out from behind the wheel.
Demeter smiled. "I would be Dr Carr." She replied as she stepped forward and took the clipboard that he was holding out to her, signed her name and handed it back. "Did they travel well?" She looked toward the back of the truck in anticipation to actually meet the Holsteiner mare and her daughter.
The man mumbled something unintelligible and hit the button on the side of the truck to lower the door. "Let's just get them out, I have places to be." Once the door was lowered, he gestured for her to walk up the ramp, obviously not going to do it himself.
Demeter rolled her eyes as she headed up the ramp and walked to the stall that held the bay sabino mare who was looking over her mesh stall door with her ears back. "Hey pretty girl." She cooed as she stepped up to the mare and offered the pretty horse her hand. "Let's get you and your baby out." She pulled the rope lose and opened the door, before clicking her tongue and leading the mare forward.
Making sure that the filly remained close to her dam's side, Demeter led the mare down the ramp and away from the truck so that the driver could raise the ramp and head on his way to drop off the other horses he was transporting. "Hey!" She cried out as the mare snaked her head around and nipped the woman's hip. "That's not nice!" She scolded as she led the mare toward one of the yard and released the mare and her foal into the yard.
She stood back and watched the mare as the Holsteiner fussed over her foal. The veterinarian had been told about the mare's sale by a friend - the same person she had sold Yoda to - and she couldn't pass up the opportunity to own the mare, especially with her show record so far, and the chance to train the talented mare's foal. However, the first thing she needed to do was convince the mare that she was their friend and could be trusted being near the foal.
