Much to the displeasure of his parents, rather than going home at the start of the summer, he had gone on a road trip with Basco instead. A little bonding time for the boys, as he liked to look at it; and his horses had been turned out. Neither of them were competition level horses, so the time off wasn't a problem for them.
Basco was excited to get out of the vehicle as they arrived back on campus and Mick laughed, as it seemed that even half an hour travelling was too much for the canine's endless energy levels. "Come on then." He said as she clipped the lead to the dog's collar and unclipped him from his travelling harness. Leaving the things in his vehicle for now, they got out and he jogged around to the field with the canine, before releasing him. "Twit." He muttered as the dog tripped over his own feet, halfway across the field and rolled head over heels before righting himself and continuing on.

It all seemed to happen so quickly, Anne reflected, as she wandered the campus with no particular aim in mind. One moment you were in the middle of term, caught up in your work, your mind jumping from one lesson to another with no time to rest in between, and then all of a sudden it was the holidays, with weeks stretching empty and inviting ahead of you, the bare minimum of work to do and plenty of time to enjoy the glorious Kentucky weather.
And then all of a sudden, the holidays were drawing to a close, there were more students and staff returning every day, and the whole campus seemed to have suddenly lost its cheery holiday feel and to be bustling once more as it prepared for the hard work which would come with the approaching term. Anne rather liked it. She enjoyed having people moving around all the time, things to do, people to organise. It reminded her of the old days. The brunette paused as she found herself making her way across the field, watching a man and his dog.

After a lap and a half around the field, Mick was wondering if the canine was going to stop running and smiled as Basco loped back in his direction. "I'm beginning to think you would do better with someone who could run with you all day." He said as he rubbed the dog's head. Though he was going to make an effort to go running with the dog each day, even on the days he couldn't take his horses out.
"You're ready to go again, aren't you?" Mick laughed and shook his head as the dog gave a soft bark in reply and then took off around the field again.
