Tex is an energetic horse who's swift on his feet. As a foal, he would prance and dance around. His fancy footwork helped earn him his moniker. The gelding likes to go fast, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the circumstances. A lot of the times, Tex is ready to get up and go which can be challenging when the situation requires taking things slow and pacing yourself.
Around Harlan, Tex can sometimes act like a big baby. He is a bit spoiled and has been since he was a young foal. Wherever Harlan goes, Tex will follow like a big old puppy dog. When it's time to work however, the gelding gets right to it. He's eager to please and seems to always enjoy working. Tex was born with great cow sense so he excels at working cattle. When it comes to other endeavors, the horse is a fast learner and has quickly picked up new skills.
Caution Around>> N/A
Basic History>> Tex was born and raised on the Duke family ranch. He was sired by a stallion named Texas Hold 'Em and his dam was a mare named Jitter bug. Having been born and bred on a ranch meant the the horse was destined to become a working horse. His early days were spent in lavish comfort, just grazing and frolicking in a large pasture. However, when Tex turned 2 years old it was time for him to start working. He was broken and acclimated to working with cattle.
Originally, Tex was going to be trained and then sold. However, Harlan took an interest in the horse. In spite of already having a horse, Harlan's father decided to let the boy keep the gelding for himself. From then on, the two become inseparable. Tex has been Harlan's go to horse for everything. The gelding started off as a simple ranch horse, and from there he has been trained to compete in reining, pole bending, trail, and almost every western event involving cattle.
Over the years, the two have competed in plenty of rodeo events and have done pretty well in them. Now, Harlan has brought the horse with him to BRRA. He hopes that the two can elevate their skills to the next level and become an even more impressive horse and rider duo.
