It was part of those five minutes peace, the brief little interludes that he managed to exact if needed, admist busy schedules and helping where he could. The times that he wasn't riding, or checking stables, making sure the horses were okay. It was in the small things, and Colin needed the break, if he was allowed one. He leaned back in his office chair, sipping from a mug of coffee and closed his eyes for a brief moment. He hadn't been sleeping well lately, and he was sure that it was because of his past finally coming to haunt him. It was always around this time of the month, when he had done the internet transfer into the all too familiar bank account, that he was plagued with sleepless nights and thoughts filled with regrets.
Unlike a lot of people, he wasn't very good with suppressing bad memories, or in his case, some of the best ones of his life, but sadly, he wasn't going back to that life, at least not any time soon, and not with the person whose life he had so wholly managed to ruin (in his eyes), in the space of a few short months. The air conditioning unit was going at full blast in his office, and he didn't feel the need to change that. Not only was it hot outside, but humid, the air pressing down like a shroud, and only hinting at the possibility of rain. Colin had the sedatives ready, if need be, to keep Pan calm, as he didn't need to explain to Katherine why they would have to repair a stable if the gelding did go into his freak out mode.
Sitting up, he placed the mug on his desk, and opened his e-mails, sighing when he saw an email from the last person that he wanted to hear from. In his case, it was think of the devil, and he shalt appear.
