Personality>>
James is carefree when it comes to most social subjects. While he may not understand how someone may think the way they do, he is more than willing to accept that fact. His carefree personality only translates to others however, never himself. When it comes to himself, he is extremely particular on how things are and must be done. Having a set plan and idea is how he gets through his days generally, otherwise his mind begins to wander off. He often keeps a day plan close by to make sure he follows along.
He is a curious creature by nature, and loves to poke and prob at people when he can. The why's and how's of people's minds intrigue him more than anything else in the world. He is cautious though, and doesn't take it too far, so long as the situation calls for it.
The well-being of others is his top priority as well. His history has given him a different perspective on life as he's grown and will go miles out of his way to make sure no one feels the way he used to feel. It sometimes causes him trouble, particularly when he is with his little sister.

Secrets>>
Although he's fairly careful about it, Jay has a dangerous relationship with alcohol.
Appearance>>
Being raised by the parents he had, James grew quickly into the 'appearances matter' stigma they used. While just under six foot, he spends quite a bit of time either in the gym or on the trails. He has a fairly athletic body that he works out on a regular basis to keep in good shape. His dark brown hair and beard gets trimmed often to keep it clean cut and manageable.
James is a bit more fashionable than he likes to acknowledge, but he often dresses in button downs and jeans or dress pants. His casual outfits and professional often blend together, and he almost always keeps his hair styled up when going out. He does his best to look good, yet he comfortable, only ever donning his shorts and her shirt look while working out.
Markings>>
Has a small scar on the bridge of his nose and a larger one on his knee from surgery.
Medical History>> He spent a lot of his time as an infant in and out of the hospital with rsv and pneumonia. Jay had mild asthma when he was younger but eventually grew out of it. He tore his ACL in high school and that required surgery and plenty of therapy.
Full History>>
James was born to a single mother in Detroit, Michigan. While she wasn't even ready to have a child, her situation made it nearly impossible to sickly child. Her smoking habit only seemed to slow once she found out she was pregnant, nor did any other of her habits leave. She was only seventeen when he was delivered, and not long after birth did she sign him over to an adoption agency. His mother had a heavy heart, but his health made him too hard to care for on her own.
James had developed pneumonia only days after his mother delivered him by c-section, and not long after that was cured, he ended up with recurring respiratory syncytial virus. Throughout his first year he was back and forth between his foster home and the hospital. He was never able to find a permanent home traveling from one agency to another as he grew older. His attitude had soured a bit when he was younger, sometimes picking on the other kids.
It wasn't until he wound up in an adoption center in Maine that he found his forever home. His new parents had been too nervous to adopt an infant, they first looked for an older child to adopt. James was already seven when they found him, and still quite cold towards them. He believed that he wouldn't every find someone, so he didn't get his hopes up until years later. Most of his first year with his new family, he was still guarding the feeling that he wasn't truly loved or cared for.
However, his parents did everything they could to make him happy, and after a while, he was able to relax and enjoy the family that loved him. He was encouraged to do well in school, which he did, and was given almost everything he could ask for. He worked hard to improve his ability in sports, despite the asthma, and worked even harder to keep his grades up. James was quite happy and made lots of friends while in school. Shay's arrival though, left him concerned with his placement. He felt that once a baby came along, he would no longer be relevant to his parents. It couldn't be farther from the truth, but his early childhood had made him skeptical and cynical.
As the years moved on, he began to develop his own feelings on the world, and what he wanted to do with his life. He had never felt more alone than he had in high school and his only real escape was one of his teachers. James' former English teacher had helped him through his emotional stress and did everything in his power to give him a better outlook on life. It helped him grow closer with his adoptive family again. His influence even encouraged Jay to want to become a counselor, rather than following in father's footsteps. Although it was painful for them to see him choose such a different career, his parents helped him get into college and set himself up for life.
James found himself a bit more in college, realizing that he truly did want to help people. It took time, but after his six years in college, Jay was out ready to take on his first job as a school counselor. While it was just a temporary position to fill a maternity leave, Jay fell in love with his job and desperately searched for a place to make it permanent. After hearing that Shailie planned on attending Blue Ridge, he did some snooping, and found an open position calling his name.

Personality>>
Luna settled into her civilian life with ease, quickly becoming a laid back dog. While she isn't overly excited to see people, she will greet them with a quick wag and sniff. It's pretty much just James that can send her in a frenzy when he comes home.
She does love her walks, however, and will happily keep pace with Jay and enjoy the adventure. On her good days, they can play together for hours, but her age is creeping up on her, and despite the supplements, she sometimes can only handle a walk before her back begins to tire.
As a therapy dog, Luna will greet and comfort as many of the students that pass her way as possible. With Jay's approval, she will cuddle up next to them or just sit next to them and wag her tail. Whatever energy she has is contained well and she has yet to disappoint Jay.
History>>
Luna was bred to be an active duty mutli-purpose dog. She was trained with one handler and her career ended with that same handler. While working as a MWD, Luna had been trained to do anything that was asked of her, but had mostly spent her time as a scouting dog. She and her handler had served several tours together, but an injury to her back had sent her to retirement.
Through rest and tlc, Luna was able to recover and pass her behavioral tests at Lackland. While she had spent quite a bit of time healing up, there had already been people ready to meet her the second she was put up for adoption. Luckily, after being referred by a friend, when Jay had been looking for a dog, he put in his adoption application at Lackland Air Force Base almost immediately. By the time he got a respose, Luna had just been deemed fit and he fell in love immediately.
Civilian life came easy to her and she settled in with Jay quite well. Once they had truly begun to settle in with one another, Jay had her trained to be an therapy dog and got her to work. They worked well together and have been increasingly difficult to separate since the adoption.
