Nika is an outspoken women the moment you meet her. She has little issue with oversharing and expressing her feelings right away. If there is something bothering her, you'll know. Confidence is something she learned to exude over the years as a professional dancer, even when she isn't exactly beaming. She is straightforward, just as she would like others to be with her and generally doesn't hold back too much. While she has no bad intent, her bluntness also comes off as brashness.
Her compassion came later in life, after she married Jenna's father and felt the responsibility of a mother. Before, she wasn't particularly concerned with the life others as long as no one was getting hurt. Now she always tries to place herself in others shoes and be as understanding as possible, even if she really doesn't want to some times.

While she was born with dark brown hair which almost looked black, it's been a long time since her hair was that color. Nika has adopted the burgandy hair color for several years. She usually let's get hair loose in it's natural waves which completely compliments her light blue eyes. Depending on her mood, they can almost come across as grey as well.
Nika is fairly average in height, standing at 5'6", but you would never be able to guess since she is always in heels. Her body has always been lean and athletic, showing off her years of hard work.
Clothing and appearance are a high priority for Nika, mostly due to it being a part of her career. It's not often that you will see her without some makeup, and even when she's dancing she tries to be as fashion conscious as she can.
Markings>> Surgical scar on the side of her left knee. Both ears pierced and a nose piercing that is currently closing.

The heart of Moscow is where Alexander Volkov anchored down with his wife. That is where he focused on his ballroom career and the start of his family. It was a fairly loveless marriage, pushed by both their parents, but they made it work. While he was focusing on his career, Vera was busy at home raising a daughter.
Nika showed aptitude and interest in dance almost the moment she could walk. Her father started training her at a young age after his career began to decline. Where there should have been love and compassion, there was a harsh environment. More often than not, Nika would leave her lessons crying. Her father didn't treat her any differently than he would a professional dancer when she was young. She had always intended of getting away from her father, if only for her own mental sake.
Although training was miserable, Nika always found comfort in her dance partner. Their friendship kept her dancing and eventually taught her to love it. From the time she was seven until her mid twenties they danced together, winning heavily in their youth, and a some in their adulthood. Their success brought them to America to compete.
It was unfortunate, but not unforseen that one day in practice, Nika just landed wrong. Years of overuse caught up to her, and eventually made their mark on her knee. It gave out one day and she felt the pop of her ligaments tear. While she had the money to do everything she could to fix it, her knee never healed back to its original form.
It took a great deal of inner turmoil to decide to end her competitive career, but Nika made the decision. She chose her health over her career and found herself on the outs. Her partner up and left her, her visa expiration date closing in and out of the job, Nika was desperate to stay where she was.
Luckily for her, a fairly rich businessman happened to just get divorced. Seeing no other way to not have to go home, Nika charmed and swindled her way into a quick marriage. She was content where she was, bonding well with her stepdaughter, so she stayed, rather than divorcing and trying to start over again. It didn't take as long as she expected to actually enjoy her marriage and the life she led. Of course, once she did, her husband had a stroke.
Seeing how distraught Jenna was and how much she wanted to start over, Nika and Jenna searched for a place where they could both focus on the things they loved.

Personality>> Athena is completely is a mama's girl who thinks she is a lap dog. She would rather spend most of her day sleeping on the couch with Nika than tearing around outside. When she is outside, she would rather stroll and explore than run and play fetch.
Her attitude towards other dogs is a touch and go subject. Not that she hates or is aggressive towards dogs, but she isn't exceptionally friendly and is often intimidated. It took quite a bit of time before she was ever able to loosen up around the other family dog, so new dogs are usually a belly up situation.
History>> Not much is known about Athena's past before she was brought into a shelter. She was a skinny, wormy and terrified of everything when she first arrived. It took months to get her to a healthy weight and acceptable temperament.
Once she settled, Athena's personality blossomed. Nika wanted a companion when she moved to America, and her eye was instantly set on Athena. They weren't best friends right away, but time and patience bonded them.
Athena was a happy go lucky pup once she moved into the Murphy house. She loved both kids and the luxury house life was definitely for her.
